Perhaps rather than allow people to farm ships, the experience gained from building ships can be like the routes. The first time a certain ship is built, there will be a large chunk of experience gained. The second time and any other time the same type of ship is built there will be a significantly less amount of experience gained. The amount of experience granted from ship building could also be increased by allowing the "first time experience gain" at each port. For example, I could level up to allow myself to build a ship at port phasmatys. Go to port phasmatys and build one of each ship that I can build at that level at that port to gain the first time experience for each ship. Sort of serves as another reason to unlock a port to get that big experience reward.

I will be voting 'no' if it uses the already existing planks. That sounds way too expensive and would ruin the fun of the skill for me.

I see where you are coming from with this input and is accurate. It looks like you will be able to make maple planks, yew planks, and magic planks as well now unless they will just use the logs. I like that there will be sort of a money sink with this because people are worried about building the ship and selling it off to make money but I am pretty positive that you won't get that much back in return to profit. Good on Jagex for a sink of a sort.

Sailing sounds exciting but I'm not sure I want to see this in OS. I like the small updates which have been added such as Nieve, her dungeon and new slayer monsters.

This skill is a huge change. I don't want new loot to devalue the weapons and armor we currently have. We saw that happen over and over in RS. In the past I have appreciated the way you've added on to current weapons so they keep their value such as with the tentacle whip. If new weapons are added please follow this pattern.

The price of planks is rising, if this skill passes please keep the planks for shipbuilding and construction separate. They shouldn't compete with each other.

I see where you're coming from. However, allowing the current planks to be used can also benefit the community in a few ways. Plank building can become a decent money making method. Also, players will be motivated to use the lumber yard more frequently themselves because they can buy logs and convert them to planks themselves to save a pretty penny. Basically it brings back that feel of collecting something to progress further and get that next level. It reminds me of the time so many years ago when I grinded moss giants to collect big bones and rannarrs to get 43 prayer for the first time!

Even though what you say is true, there's not much of another choice to use. Unless you suggest they add new trees and planks which need to be farmed for the new skill. I think the route they are taking with the regular/oak/willow/maple/yew/magic/teak/mahogany trees is going to bring some of those trees back to life. Don't see how that is a bad route but understandable.

Okay sorry but I completely disagree with the sailing locations

1 - Port Sarim
10 - Catherby
20 - Port Khazard
30 - Feldip HIlls
40 - Relleka
50 - Port Tyras
60 - Southern tip of Desert
70 - Wilderness
80 - Mos Le'Harmless
90 - Burgh de Rott

Burgh de rott which is the highest requirement (around the level where you will have magic and beautiful crystal boats) looks really ugly. The whole place is rotten and destroyed, as fitting in the quest line. So you are telling me that, when I get 99 sailing in my **** crystal yacht, the 'best' place for me to do it is some rundown crap hole full of ill people?

How does that make sense?

I agree with you. In my opinion, the level 90 location should either be Mos Le'Harmless (capital of the Pirates and all of that) or the Southern tip of the Desert.

And why the Southern tip of the Desert? Because of all of the potential Eastern Land-related content it could introduce.
