I'm asking myself why are you guys adding so much unneccesary stuff too it.
I was very excited by the idea of sailing, because when I think of sailing I see the sport-sail ships. Why does it has to be so much of a pirate-like related skill. Ofcourse would it be a great addiction, but can't we just sail in normal boats, maybe for more skilled sailers even catamaran.

Thereby it would be even a better addiction if you guys would think about sail-related fashion items. Finally the introduction of polo shirts? Ralph Lauren design caps? Bodywarmers, Gaastra jackets, etc. It's something to think about. We got alot of pirate related stuff from clue scrolls and Mos Le Hammes already. So why not also introduce, when sailing will come, sport-sailing clothing?

I hope you guys will think about this also.

xoxo Ikea

I assumed this was written in sarcasm, in which case I find it hilarious lol that's what RS3 is though in my opinion. It's useless over-ran skills and a ridiculous amount of cosmetic items that would put the Kim Kardashian game to shame.

Awesome can't wait!

Edit:

I think new types of planks should be introduced to the game instead of using existing ones primarily because most of them are never actually created at the sawmill which defeats the purpose of the coin sink that was intended.

I think hardened or stronger version planks should be added to the sawmill which will cost a boatload of coins (pun intended) and will do great as a coin sink. Logs will gain value, primarily mahogany and teaks which is never a bad thing.

People like this is why OSRS will fail and why i stopped playing before. I came back and started over because i wanted the old Runescape. If i wanted this trash i would have stayed playing EOC/RS3

I feel the skill sailing is in it's concept right now a skill that looks more like a skill that gives you experience in everything you do that is comparable with the sea. It would be cooler that there are also some sea routes, comparable to parcourses in agility. It would be a way more logic way to call the skill sailing then because now you could also call it sea exploration or ship-building what has less to do with the whole thing of sailing.

Experiencing routes with different streams of wind from different directions with the risk to completely get stuck in the reet or on the shore or something like that. Different usage of sails and helms would make it possible to get your way ahead and your experience.

And what would be so sweet if you can sail to your own POH where you can build a small dock for your sail boat. Small serre-a-like building what you can place over there so it would look like a holiday appartemen* with view on a dock with boat would be cool to see.

DEVS!
It's been a long time since I've been on the forums on any account but this is a good cause!
I am so excited for this skill, especially after that april fool's troll! That being said I hope it gets done right!

My biggest concern with the proposal atm is that it sounds like grind grind and a random event here and there thrown into the mix, whilst spending a boatload of cash on resources. I do NOT like the sound of that! I do believe this skill should be approached much like dungeoneering was in the following regards:

1.) Encourage team play!
2.) Voyaging should be THE best way to level & it should be action packed, non stop
3.) Don't make this a skill for only the filthy rich players like 99 construction. I mean i understand some people want a money sink and w/e and some people will dislike the skill and look for a repetetive way to train but that should not be the best way to train. Please make TRAINING fun!!@# That's why dungeoneering was so fantastic. It was all about having fun and doing dungeons and best times and max xp and really challenging bosses (Thunderous was freaking epic. Miss that.) rather than about the xp.

I know people are probably sick of this proposal being compared to dungeoneering but pre-eoc it was by far my favorite skill of all time. At a point where I had pretty much completed every challenge the game had to offer it completely revitalized my desire to play, train other skills and go go go. It was so much fun. Sailing has that potential. Don't let it fall into the black hole of grind grind grind and gp gp gp.

That's all, thanks for reading!
Sincerely;
M

This is going to be fun! It sounds like an awesome skill, I like the idea of underwater caverns.. Oooh and new enemies!
I don't know why but the bit about the cyclone made me laugh. Makes me think of those movies, when there's a very dangerous storm and some people fall off.

Im fine with this as long as it doesn't make other skills faster. It should be a massive gp sink**** sinks is what we need in Osrs since death timer and not many items leaving game compared to the amount coming in each day. And new skills/updates are necessary to keep the game alive for another 15 years and make it even more popular. You guys don't understand that. This is why i feel some changes need to be made without polling, along with AFK-training bug fix.
Keep your coins, i want change.
