I can't wait for this! Very excited I've been wanting this skill for quite awhile.
Sadly the community is so divided in this game it is truly the down fall of osrs tbf.
as for people arguing just to clarifie this was never really "07scape" it is Oldschool Runescape. Which in my mind always ment and old style runescape ( aka should be a game that progresses to where runescape should have originally went and become a more amazing game then even the one we knew. While maintaining the essence and feel of the game we once loved. ) But sadly that won't happen because for some reason people are stuck in some parallel dimension from 8 years ago. But keep up the nice work Jagex I'm really looking forward to seeing where this goes even if it doesn't pass.

P.S I love you all but especially Mod Ash <3
Runescape herb farmer an farming fanatic ^_^
Purple PartyHat enthusiast

I get where you are coming from, I just think that if it's a skill...people will have a reason to do it since things might require a certain level. The biggest reason why I wouldn't want it a minigame is because development time would go to waste for a content to die. That's just what minigames do. The only real active minigame alive is Pest Control. Clan wars died, Castle wars is sometimes active, shades of Morton is active cause of quest, and everything else is pretty much dead.

I understand why you say this however I don't think the solution is to call things skills in order for players to play them but it is to create content that players need to and want to play.

Slightly off topic

it's very frustrating to see the stupid reasons people post against it, especially the one about "this game didn't have X piece of content and should have no updates ever". THAT one...that makes me question why the players stating that are still even online or allowed to play...

I agree with you Stinkowing, however with bigger updates I don't think that is the case. Old School should be able to update as long as it fits into the old school feel and you can say to yourself "This could have happened in 2007."

I agree people passed the poll to update the game and now they don't even want to pass anything worth passing. What is annoying is that people don't realize this was not meant to stay as 07scape. Its to have that 'look and feel' to it but still progress it in to a different direction than RS3.

Old School was meant for players to play the old game, it wasn't meant to advance at all. We are lucky that we get to have our say in advancing it.

I really don't understand all the negativity. I think it's a great idea!

Guys, Old School was made as another chance for us to play the game we love, back during it's prime. We have the power to mold the game into what WE want this time, NOT Jagex.

THAT is what makes it great. Just because we advance or add content doesn't mean we lose our game. It's "Old School" because it's the old style of the game. Not a game that's locked in time.

Fly on Jagex. You guys are doing great and I'll vote yes for sure. On all 3 of my accounts.
Nope.

Players passed the poll for regularly updates to the game which in itself means that they wanted advancement. We can go back and forth on whether to call something a skill or a minigame. We got it offered as a skill, now we should just focus on making it a worthy skill instead of going back and forth to whether it should be established as a skill or a minigame cause if that is all we do, then there will be no further progression. Lets just take it as a skill since that is how it is being offered and lets make it worth it. This thread has had so much positive feedback compared to the last developer blog. Even on reddit it is having good positive feedback. I have hope for it to pass.

If the team is wanting sailing so bad, but the community isn't wanting a new skill yet, why not poll to just add this to construction. It's the best of both worlds. People get a new update and the team gets sailing. This skill is looking like an expansion of construction anyway.

1 line explanation for the skill:

"The ability to traverse the treacherous waters around Gilenor"

Tears of Guthix statement if you improve this skill:

"The faraway reaches of the sea now seem much more accessible"

Is that good?

We never voted on getting regular updates but they gave us the opportunity to get some updates and we took the opportunity. Although it's a shame that recently they've started releasing things that haven't been polled. anyway moving back on topic.

Just because they have described it as skill doesn't mean it is. Like I've aleady said it lacks the basics of a skill. If we're going to make a new skill then we should concentrate on making the skill as best we can otherwise if it's not going to be a skill we should correct that and make it as best we can.

Basically are we getting a skill or are we getting this current sailing idea, either way we need to make it the best it can be and calling this current idea a skill wouldn't be the best idea. Getting every detail correct means it has a better chance at passing a poll.
