If this is suppose to be the place where I post feedback on the topic then here goes.

I like the idea of sailing. It will fit very nicely with Zeah coming out, and it's been very long awaited. I rather enjoyed player owned ports when those came out but here is my main concern. So help me god if I build my ship then have to wait 2 hours for it to be completed I won't train it and you'll get some nasty feedback from me. If this turns out like I send my ship on a mission and it takes an hour to complete I'm going to be unhappy. What is the point of sailing? Every skill currently has a point. Slayer - kill things. Herblore - plant herbs and stuff. Construction - Build a house. If all you're doing is building boats and sailing a little bit, then call it boat building or something, or tie it into construction some way, even though construction is already crowded and a boring skill overall to train to 99.

Selling your ship to an NPC doesn't make sense to me. Now selling it to a shipyard that scraps the ship and gives you a portion of the materials you used, back to you makes sense. Discovering 1 new island or some new caverns sounds fun, but why stop there? You only mentioned 1 new island, and if it's a small one you'll have a lot of disappointed people. There is a lot of ocean out there, it better be filled up with many random islands and caverns to keep people busy.

Player Vs Player - This part stuck out to me the most, as I am a pker and this adds a whole new dimension to player killing. Very curious how you all are going to expand on this topic.

Lastly, I'd like to say that I'm not very confident you guys can come out with a great NEW piece of content. Everything you've made so far is very cheesy and not well done. Slayer cave, slayer bosses so far, NMZ, even the drops from Zulrah. You've got a lot to prove with the new slayer bosses, that you can make good content.

Best of luck, and I know why sailing was the only new skill that might pass.

It blows my mind that so many people are asking for summoning and dungeonering. I could have sworn it was those two skills that created the big call to create osrs. (aside from EoC).

Sailing is a unique skill, NOTHING like dungeonering, a way to get to zeah. A way to get Lady lumbridge back.

Auger and rigor I am hesitant on bringing back into the game. But I fail to see the faults these other people are going on about. This can easily be a full fledge skill. Brings back exploration of the world, opportunities for lore. What the heck is wrong with sailing other then it was used as an April fools joke once after people had been asking for it since way before '08.

EoC and overpowered weapons were the reason people left RS3.

Summoning, I was not a fan of, made bossing too easy. But dungeoneering, given the right rewards, can be much more effective than sailing. The one thing Dung did very well was utilize most (if not all) of the in game skills to complete a dungeon.

Sailing would be stand-alone, which is fine... But I just don't feel like it garners enough possibilities to be justified a new skill. "Oh look, new islands... that you could easily have just been given a teleport for".

I honestly believe if you bring back Dungeoneering, and ditch the Chaotics which were clearly OP, then the skill has a chance. It's rewards were both combat and skiller oriented and even level 3s could participate by providing the skill door opens for high combat teammates.

Sailing seems like one of those skills everyone thinks is cool when they read it, then people realize it's just a time sink to avoid teleporting somewhere.

And as for the "people have asked for it for a long time" remark that everyone is going back to.... No, not everyone has been asking for it. It was a small cult movement by people based on the picture on the website back then. No different than people asking for claws all the time... and we all don't want claws back

Love all these people complaining about Runescape getting stale. Where is your castlewars armour? How bout getting diaries done? All quests done? Boss pet? People want new things without doing the things that are already ingame.. Lets not waste time on a new skill. And spend time fixing servers. Or bringing dead content back to life.. That or like I've suggested in the past. Bring a runescape server like OSRS that doesn't get updates like this, but isn't "classic" give it decent graphics with some of the new things implemented into it(gwd, wildy bosses, etc.)

Diaries and Quests are fair but the others are just examples of grinding which is just a poor gaming experience.

Sailing was suggested and discussed about ten years before there was a picture on the website that people made a joke out of.

Lets not forget that before a dragon kiteshield or dragon platebody were added to RS3, they were asked for for many years, and Jagex made joke items you could get from Diango of them before the real ones were added to the game.

Making a joke about an item players want in game before making the real item has been a recurring theme in RuneScape for a long time.

Players ask for a much wanted piece of content for years. Jagex makes an April fools joke in game about the content. Then Jagex makes the actual content the players have wanted for many years.

Sailing is a form of transportation, but it is also much more.

Sailing allows for exploration of islands and the possibility of reaching new continents.
PVP sea battles are possible. Fishing, deep sea diving, lost underwater cities, sunken ships, sea monsters, diplomacy, mini quests where you hunt down pirate ships, or fight other NPC ships like skeletons, zombies, ghost ships, are possible.

Every skill can benefit from sailing. New training and resource areas can be added, as well as new items and new peoples and NPCs and plants, which would not have fit on the current map.

Jagex can constantly add new islands with new content, with new areas to explore.

We could bring people, plants and animals to an island and start a new colony.

New Treasure Trails could be added.

Really, its near limitless what can be done with Sailing.

I'm looking forward to more ideas and seeing the skill developed.

Building ships I don't think should give Sailing XP, I think shipwright should give construction XP, making sails and figureheads crafting or fletching XP, and maybe magic or prayer for enchanting and blessing figureheads. Smithing XP for making anchors, chains, portholes, cannonballs, spears, etc.
Hi.
