I never thought this would happen, but I kinda like the idea! The first time I heard of Sailing, I thought that it would simply a type of transportation and nothing more. But as they mentioned in the Dev Blog, there's lots more content to be added with it! In my opinion it adds a new aspect of RuneScape which is pretty exciting. I'm interested to see what else Jagex will be doing with the content with the release of Sailing.

I saw a player mention that no one cares for exploration anymore, and that all of RS is about exp and gains, but I don't agree. I believe RuneScape can be much much more than just that, and Jagex is definitely able to show that with this update.

I think it's too early to decide whether or not it'll be good or bad addition to the game (to the players who immediately said 'No!' and completely shutting off the idea), since they just announced it and we only have this information currently given, and you're basically saying 'No' to something you haven't tried yet, but I'm looking forward to see what Jagex will do with Sailing!

I really like the idea and would probably support it if I see more details of it, but I'm a bit concerned that you are doing so many big projects at once. Wouldn't this affect the quality of the updates?

Oh and I don't mind if it will be a skill or minigame, both sound nice.

Even if this were to pass poll when could we expect to see it? 2017? Not much has been said on Zeah's progression and this seems like an equally huge if not bigger project.

Too ambitious it seems. QoL updates would be better. We get plenty of new content as is, and most of it is very good. But these huge projects seem to be overly ambitious for a team whose constraints Jagex themselves have pointed out.

To the plank with ya!
Hello I find this idea completely outstanding and incredible. At the same time I am ambitious on looking at a first preview of this whole concept, before voting on it.

As I just bought a space game where you have to explore 400billions stars, never I would have thought about exploring OSRS, yarr!

@Ronan you said <randomly generated seas>;
Will it be Randomly generated or Proceduraly generated? (I mean the sea, the isles, treasures, etc.)
Also, are you doing this now since you have (new) technology in your hands, which is why the 2008RS team did not do Sailing?
Will it involve a bit of Fishing Trawler, where you have to fix the ship without controlling the ship?

As Mini Finbarr said; Please consider adding a (5)(10)man Raid into OldSchool aswell.

Skill or minigame, I believe there is already a Sailing minigame in RS3. I am looking forward at what you could achieve with this DevBlog and vows my respect to the OSRS team for this -out of the fog- idea. thank you.

I got thru page 10 and it's just surreal how many people are NOT wanting this.

It could be something I'd support but, since it was SAN'S idea and you don't even want to give him credit.. maybe it's not so supportable after all (I mean, I have to see BigRedJapan on EVERY agility rooftop, and ya'll are simply stealing San's idea without even acknowledging it).

Yeah, go ahead and hide this post but fact of the matter is it's San's idea and just too hard to support it knowing he doesn't get credit in any way.

Jagexed AGAIN.

I also made a detailed suggestion for sailing for a player designed skill before ever hearing about san's idea or several other's ideas who also did a suggestion for sailing. San is definitely not the only person to suggest it and the idea for it has been around for a long time, there is no problem with not giving san credit as long as they don't do it exactly as he/she suggested.

QFC to your 'detailed suggestion for sailing'?

I know that the 'sailing' idea has been around for YEARS, but I have NEVER seen a more detailed thread than San's thread (and in checking your forum profile I don't find that you have posted on ANY 'sailing' thread but this one.

Everyone who wants summoning or dungeoneering instead but still thinks sailing sounds good, please dont vote no to sailing to make your point.

Voting yes or no on sailing will most likely not have an impact on the likelyhood summoning or dungeoneering will ever get into the game. Only real impact would be that summoning or dungeoneering if they where to be released would be released later, after sailing.

Please no, Jagex. You're breaking my heart.

I was pumped about 2007scape (and still am), and it's because I love playing the game as it was in 2007. I don't want new skills, weird updates, etc. Basically anything that detracts from the 2007 feel that this game has is a kick in the teeth to the people who came back with promise of a true oldschool experience.

Sailing is not oldschool. Augury + rigour aren't oldschool and aren't necessary in the game. You're starting the same power creep you started seven years ago and it's going to lead to alienating the people who came back to this game thinking that it would be as close to 2007 as possible.

I'm appalled, I hope the community makes the right decision on this one.
