Lol i sent a tip off to jagex. I've found out a way to not get disconnected when the servers get ddos attacks. I connect to the internet using 3G/4G. YES I use a tethering program and my carrier is Sprint. When everyone gets booted off of runescape during the attacks I somehow stay in the world with no lag or issues. I recommend if you have the ability to tether internet from your mobile phone. Do it. Especially if you want to go boss fighting, or anything dangerous. I guess the ddos attacks only affect people connected through their cable provider. Not really sure how that all works, All I know is that tethering keeps me from getting booted off the world I'm in.

well they can't, didn't last time, won't this time. The product is broken.

Exactly, the game is literally dead, the death mechanics are too harsh with the ddos attacks and if jagex change them the community rages. It's dead, time to talk refunds and be on our merry ways. I'm not being sarcastic either.

Why did you quote yourself and agree with yourself?

I'm confused.

Anyway, on topic… "how are things in old school?" You tell me. I'd let you know if I could log in and play the game I paid for.

I know I meant to quote the other guy, I realised I failed but was hoping no one would notice lol

Hehe, no worries. It happens.

It's not lack of education though, it's lack of receiving a product you're paying for. Albeit it's not jagex fault, they should fix it, in the same way any other company would fix a product it's selling to you.

You wouldn't order a mobile phone and open to box to receive a brick would you. Exactly.

Indeed, if they can't fix the problem then compensating their playerbase in the way of refunding lost days membership goes some of the way to regaining some faith from their customers.

Simply posting 'there's a problem and we can't fix it so try and play through it until it hopefully just magically stops' isn't an acceptable reply from a company of this size with so many customers - some of whom have been incredibly loyal to them for 10+ years despite many controversial changes to the game they loved playing.

all you guys want is magic fixes to happen that simply can't as of now. delusional. Research into some of this personally the osrs reddit might be a good start, seems people on there have also done their research. Jagex does need to fix this of course but some of the posts on here are people wasting their time typing

so yeah.... Keep complaining at jagex (rightfully so) for no reason. I certainly won't be losing any sleep :P

reddit post quote from "Popkins" from 4 months ago:

"The reason a game like RuneScape absolutely positively can not be "DDoS protected" is that it is a living thing. You can't cache RuneScape. You need direct access to a single server in a single location running a single RuneScape world and there is no way to escape the fact that if that server can't handle your request within x time you can't interact with the game."

There are ways Jagex can Prevent this but it is up to them like other game companies to come up with their own solutions that work for them.

Look I understand a ddos happens to virtually every site. I think what bothers me the most is there are a few measures which could have been taken a long time ago to at least handle the traffic a bit more. One thing that really bothers me isn't the fact they banned these people and those who are ddosing but they do it without formulating a plan or have a policy in place to at least lessen this attack.
