This means we have to dig further into who is doing this, why and what they do after doing it.

This seems to be a rather unnecessary question.

Many players prefer to play RS in the style they are used to, but they don't feel like regaining the stats they've worked on for years. AFK training provides an easy and fast way to regain your stats and return to what you loved doing: stuff that requires high stats such as bossing. After all, while the idea of OSRS is that everyone 'makes a new start', in reality many people feel like that their account simply has been reset as they don't feel they're playing a new game, but rather the game as it used to be.

So, why are people doing it? Because they want high stats but don't want to spend years on training again.

What do they do after doing it? They use their stats to do minigames, kill bosses and PK.

Edit: I have always despised AFKing and cheating, but I simply cannot condemn it in the case of OSRS. Players never asked for their accounts to be reset (because no matter how you explain it, that's what essentially happened), they just want to play the game with the stats they trained in a legitimate way.

Please put more pressure on cheat clients, AKA OSbuddy. All the clicking hax and farming advantages need to be bannable offenses. It's an unfair advantage that people who play legit can't get.

I agree. Banned all! PLZ

The damage has been done already.

I will vote a giant NO to any nerfing of nmz or splashing.

Getting 99 combat levels or magic should not have some stupid 'early bird special'.

People have already exploited the crap out of these game mechanics, and are RIGHT NOW reaping the benefits from those inflated levels.

Upcoming players should NOT have to 'suffer' through nerfed content, and force them to put in literally hundreds of 'at the keyboard' hours, that other people didn't have to. Other people got to sit and afk for huge amounts of time.

If you had nerfed some of these things as soon as possible, it would have been ok, but it has been way too long to change it now.

How would you like a marathon, where players could use INDY CARS for the first part of the race, and suddenly anyone who didn't get to the finish line within the first hour has to suddenly crawl to the finish line. NOT FAIR.

What you can do is make NEW content that makes training magic or melee quite pleasurable. Or content that actually *rewards* you if you sit AT THE KEYBOARD, and is not afkable!!

For instance, a special cave that has random reward elements that appear to give you very generous magic xp for being alert and seeing them.

They should have told us whether their problem with NMZ and splashing is the 6-hour afkability. If so, they could make you logout despite being in combat but people would still afk, checking back every 5 minutes. If 6-hour afkability is the sole problem, it's good that they mentioned it, but it's far too late to do anything about it without drawing fire from each party trying to justify their opinions. The community is divided but it will be further divided if anything is changed. If the issue is left alone, in the long term, splashing will likely come to be accepted since it was part of the original game. NMZ will continue to be challenged since it was not, but people often come to accept things that are similar in nature so as long as splashing exists, it too would eventually be accepted.

If the problem is general afk xp, this doesn't even deserve a mention. There should be no issue. There's no problem for bandits, which have existed for ages. There's no problem with going to anywhere with aggressive monsters with guthans, just that bandits and NMZ are preferable since monsters don't lose aggression.

Honestly the splashing and NMZ issue isn't really a big deal... i don't see why people fuss over it. The exp you get from splashing isn't OP. It's cheap, and training magic sure does cost quite a bit. So splashing is a good alternative, like the guy in the earlier post was saying, since people aren't able to do anything while splashing it seems pretty fair. To alch you have to buy natures which cost money and profit/loss depends on different methods. The NMZ guthans isn't a issue at all...people can train at bandits/experiements/yaks or slayer and gain exp a whole ton faster than NMZ, the exp gain from nmz on shared is laughable.. i think it's like.. 13k p/h? and most people don't even sit there all day to ovl every 5 minutes, they just afk. Let's be real here, if we all had guthans and the opportunity to afk, we'd all do it.
