"We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues RuneScape for others. We feel your status in real-life shouldn't affect your ability to be successful in RuneScape."

I believe in this statement 100%, we don't need kids ripping off mommys money just to get easy 99's in oldschool... OLDSCHOOL! Not EasyScape...

Come on.

It's a shame how players are against the introduction of simply membership bonds for Old School. A majority of the community wants Free to Play in the hopes of attracting more players into the game, but refuse to have anything "interrupt" their nostalgia as a trade off.

Jagex is a business and their goal is to make profit. They already stated that anything involving features like Treasure Hunter or a cosmetic shop like Solomon's General Store would not be implemented and even if somehow players wanted it, there would at least be a poll for it.

The membership bonds are an excellent idea and are going to help the community grow and possibly maintain much longer than without them.

Besides, we live in an era where micro transactions are a thing. You see them in plenty of games nowadays, how is this such a shocker?

Anyway, nice work Jagex! This is a great idea and will definitely help out!

Voting no is stupid. I got some friends who want to plat the game but not yet want to pay for it. Remember when we all used to start playing, being year old kids, stepping in an mmor** for the first time, and going on your first adventure with your friends. you can have that again.

People are already buying bonds, so why not letting them in the game. It will save you money.... and in return you can make an alt. I can't wait to start an iron man. I don't want to pay 8 Euro's for it yet.

I played RuneScape for ten years, starting in 2004. I played F2P two years and then decided on a membership. I've been a member since. I worked endless hours to level (just like everyone else back then).

I ended up walking away. RuneScape rapidly turned into a game I no longer recognized. Players were thrown into a "brand new" game, even after countless forum discussions and protests regarding EOC and left to sink or swim, so to speak.

Further, the sense of purpose disappeared with the introduction of BONDS, as there was no longer any meaning to Highscores. Camaraderie waned as it wasn't important to rely on each other to learn how to skill and make money. This has always been a friendly, competitive game - but that was lost with BONDS.

When Oldschool RuneScape was reintroduced, it gave back the purpose to play again for many of us. Once again, many players have worked hard to level and skill and have earned the armor they are wearing. If you introduce BONDS, many of us will walk away again. There just isn't any friendly competition and without that the foundation based players will lose interest. You'll have F2P and PK-ing .. but the game will be changed. For good.

I would rather see continuing "trials" for F2P than accept BONDS into this, our "Oldschool" game.

Voting yes.

Those who sees the bonds in old school as "pay 2 win" are just silly.
I can't imagine old school bonds being as valuable as in the rs3.
(Just look at the current rs3 -> osrs gold swap rates DUH). ^_^

So if someone is actually willing to sell their bonds for only couple mills in osrs while giving the opportunity for others to pay their membership via in-game gold is not that bad of an idea.
And if some millionaire actually exists there and is trying to buy his/her bank by selling bonds is just stupid honestly. Who really cares? Only thing he/she is doing is giving the choice for players to pay their membership.

Officially implemented gold selling is what bonds will do to osrs. IVP must have had a meeting with the old school reps, and this is what they came up with to generate more money.

I will vote a giant NO.
People bot in osrs also, should Jagex have an official bot client? It is the same freaking exact thing. Transferring gold from rs3 to osrs is not illegal, but it is trust trading (very very risky), and definitely does not seem to ME to be in the spirit of the game.

Every so often they should just do F2P weeks or something. So people can try out the game.

If I ever get 99 crafting or smithing I do NOT want people just assuming I bought bonds, and generated my in game wealth using a credit card!

They are so sneaky trying to sneak in bonds with F2P F2P F2P. I fear that the sheeple will just see the words F2P and vote YES to anything.

What if they instead asked this?

Would you like to have a permanent F2P
, if *cough* (in tiny text), we had an official bot client (that you pay for with real life currency)?

Would you like to have a permanent F2P
, if *cough*, we had um, *super tiny letters* treasure hunter-oh but oops not called that. We'll call it 'dragon shiny chest looting'
[you see how it isn't treasure hunter (loophole ftw).]

As long as you put in F2P F2P F2P!!! Before any proposal, the sheeple might vote yes to it. See how easy it is. Slick.

And I have been playing for 26 years, what does that matter? Plus your hiscores doesn't show you've stuck to the game for long. Also, you do realize people have been buying Bonds on RS3 and transferring to Oldschool almost since day 1 right?

Adding Bonds on OS won't change anything, you have a false perspective on how the game has been for two years if you think everyone earned their own gold. How do you think people got maxed on here in like 6 months?

Tbh the only truly fair and competitive hiscores now is Ironman, have you considered trying that? As far as this being a challenging "Oldschool" RS we now have the GE coming. :)

People have been transferring gold from RS3 to OS since pretty much day 1, as I mention in my post above. Guess how? Same exact way we're gonna be doing it on here with Bonds or our in-game wealth...it changes nothing.

The hiscores has never been legit on here because of it, and believe it or not Jagex allows gold transferring. In which case, the quote is irrelevant to Bonds being added on here.

Introducing Bonds on OS doesn't change anything if you can buy Bonds still on RS3 and transfer. In the end we get permanent F2P and Jagex has more room to grow more content for us if we allow Bonds.
