I played RuneScape for ten years, starting in 2004. I played F2P two years and then decided on a membership. I've been a member since. I worked endless hours to level (just like everyone else back then).
I ended up walking away. RuneScape rapidly turned into a game I no longer recognized. Players were thrown into a "brand new" game, even after countless forum discussions and protests regarding EOC and left to sink or swim, so to speak.
Further, the sense of purpose disappeared with the introduction of BONDS, as there was no longer any meaning to Highscores. Camaraderie waned as it wasn't important to rely on each other to learn how to skill and make money. This has always been a friendly, competitive game - but that was lost with BONDS.
When Oldschool RuneScape was reintroduced, it gave back the purpose to play again for many of us. Once again, many players have worked hard to level and skill and have earned the armor they are wearing. If you introduce BONDS, many of us will walk away again. There just isn't any friendly competition and without that the foundation based players will lose interest. You'll have F2P and PK-ing .. but the game will be changed. For good.
I would rather see continuing "trials" for F2P than accept BONDS into this, our "Oldschool" game.
