-Irrelevant and already proved to be illogical. The GE mandates trade due to its very nature. The vast majority of resources will flow through it so it only makes sense for someone acquiring anything to go there to get it.

Problems with the GE?

*Items are inflated. Every single tradeable item in the game from drops to logs to food is inflated greatly. Why? Because when you buy you immediately buy from multiple vendors. Supply increases substantially from a single PoV while demand doesn't.

~Far easier to manipulate by groups, even if the price isn't mandated, it is going to be followed as history has shown. "Merching" as it's commonly called with the GE is NOT the same thing going on currently.

~Every single resource in the game you can buy, is right there. It destroys the "adventure" aspect of the game, and whether you play it that way or not doesn't change what RuneScape is (or used to be) a fantasy MMO. Fantasy MMOs revolve around the player character interacting with the world.

~Skills are arguably "devalued" in that it takes less work to achieve milestones, namely 99. You may argue that people can just buy raw fish or logs now, and they can, but they have to go to a specific place, often on a certain server or multiple servers, and find someone in the game who has what they need.
With the GE you go to the GE on any server, put in coins and magically have whatever you need.
Tell me, who put more work into a skill, someone who got 99 smithing before the GE or after?

~Player interaction is secondary.
The common joke of "Oh yeah trading is 'player interaction' lol" isn't too far off. Again, this is an MMOR**, what do MMOs revolve around? Maybe not anymore, but it used to be player interaction and it's likely why games like Eve are so popular. Even more modern, it's why DayZ became what it is. Simply put, player interaction is important, and with the GE people just huddle around a magical box for everything in the game and train levels.
----On the same note, a common argument is the GE encourages interactions as people chill out there. Well people do this regardless in various locations around RuneScape so the GE certainly doesn't add interaction, just centralizes, as said above*

Jesus Christ **** this community. They should make a separate 2012 server to get rid of these degenerates. If I have to play osrs with 2k people who don't make me want to commit suicide, so be it. Over the hills, they came from the valley, making innuendo about my lack of talent.
