The more players we lose, the more Jagex should realize maxing players xp means more players quitting. once they get their max cape they don't play anymore. Right now we are only getting 28k players a day and 96k total players a day. 5 months ago it was 35k rs3 players a day and 100k+ total players/day in peak hours. It's only getting worse every year.

5 months ago there were 724k paid members in RS. Now, we have 765.4k paid members.

We don't lose players, we gained players and not just players but paid players. That's the fact. :D :D :D

Pretty sure that number is the total amount of players subscribed since 2015 and not the current amount of players subscribed. Monthly hiscores gets 300k players a month and alot of those are f2p alts.

Do you know what
2017
Jagex Financial Report means? 2017 or 2015? FuKong also tabulated the quarterly membership numbers too from 2016 to the first quarterly of 2017.

Facts are facts. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

"Runescape" gained members, but those members certainly don't play RS3. And why would they? MTX everywhere.

Show PROOF "those members certainly don't play RS3" please? PROOF from Jagex's 2017 official financial report shows 26% of their revenue in 2017 came from TH. TH is and has always been only on RS3. "If" nobody certainly play RS3, at least a lot of people PAID RS3.

This thread is discussing MTX on RS3. The numbers you provided as "facts" RS3 is growing is a total number of Runescape as a whole. This thread is not concerning runescape as a whole, but RS3. We're actually on a downward trend for RS3 concurrent users, with last month being the lowest in Runescape's history. http://www.misplaceditems.com/rs_tools/graph/?display=avg&interval=month&total=1

Anyway, before you derail things further, the profitability was never in contention by anyone in this thread. If you enjoy runescape making money as opposed to it being a good game, good for you. That's not an adequate dismissal of anyone's concerns in this thread, however.

Before you derail this thread any more, I want you to re-read what this thread about. It is Treasure Hunter and RunePass, not on RS3's "downward trend for RS3 concurrent users" from an "source" totally not related to Jagex.

The RECENT downward trend of RS3 concurrent users is a potential consequence of aggressive monetization strategies, as is what this thread's subject is, in case you weren't aware. Membership numbers from 2017 is neither RECENT, nor RELEVANT.

Once again, your flawed attempt at deflection and a failed attempt at derailing with irrelevant "facts" won't get you anywhere. At the very least you could try responding to the message you quote, instead of bringing up irrelevancies.

Bringing up information from an non-official Jagex site or direct Jagex comment is irrelevant. Please provide actual real world Jagex official information for your argument. Thanks.

Increase membership every year implement more and more MTX.

Patch note weeks are a total joke and barely fix anything.

OSRS is not your saving grace as for the players go because at some point in time it will also have MTX.

The future for this game is unfinished business from now until forever due to the fact they keep delaying content.

-Other thoughts-

In the span of 2 years jagex has barely optimized the nxt client it was supposed to be the future for this game and it continues to fail and continues to do so on so many levels.

They have also ran into the limits of the client in just 2 years time while it took them so much longer with the java client.-

Side note this game is a disgrace when compared to itself 3 years ago and further back.

The data is scraped directly from Jagex's player count. That's official, unless you believe the player count on the homepage is inaccurate.

Also, if you cared to actually visit the site, you can see jagex staff quotes on it, verifying it as accurate.

OSRS still doesn't have MTX other than Bonds so enjoy it at least for now, why bother to think about THE FUTURE. This is only a game.

NXT may not even be the client of the next gen. Again, just enjoy it for now. Who care about the future... or maybe there will be a NEXT GEN client soon. :)

Those are the players currently online, not all the Jagex players. And regardless, they are not official. Only words come out of Jagex is official.
