Sorry, my mistake... it was also presented to the science committee.

Sponsor:\tSen. Hawley, Josh [R-MO] (Introduced 05/23/2019)

Committees:\tSenate -
Commerce,
Science, and Transportation

Latest Action:\tSenate - 05/23/2019 Read twice and referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. (All Actions)

Again, the US Congress assigned S.1629 to Commerce. Period. It won't matter what you think what it should be or who-care-where-meaningless-places-you-think-they-threw-it-to.

Oh where did S.1629 end up in Science or Transportation? OIC... OIC
"GONE" (TM)
:D :D :D

What are u even arguing about?

There's just one thing u're forgetting about...

https://youtu.be/yDb_WsAt_Z0

Idc...

All I'm saying, is just because it was taken up by the commerce committee, it was also presented to other committee that as u claim have no interest in hearing as rs is not transport.. but, might as well goto commerce let them have a look at it for whatever reason idk, they might learn something... who knows... of course it won't pass.. but at least we all learned a lesson. And that, just because the commerce committee are looking at the bill, it does not make the bill more or less "commerce" than "transport".

The term "e-commerce" was around for like 25yrs before mtx. Mtx doesnt jus get to choose ehatever it wants to bex.
Skillet? Skill no.

So much moot.

You can present whatever to Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny but who cares? If they don't care then it is GONE (TM)! :D :D :D

Nobody is arguing for things non-existing things like the "PvP Jagex removed". Just nobody because non-existing is destined to be GONE (TM)!!! :D :D :D

That's their evidence EA gave to the UK Parliament, not the US Congress. Don't just copy and paste "news". Read them first.

OP also wrote in the very first post of this thread:
"It is a race to see if the US or UK will pass this law first."

Tell him to "get on topic" if you want. :D

Page 13 is a different conversation that we have moved on from it already. Why must you return back to something from 2 weeks ago?

We are now talking about enforcement of the law vs the law itself. If you didn't want to continue talking about it, maybe you should say so next time instead of trying to be so condescending.

And yes, I am very well aware of what the article I linked said. I know you have a habit of moving the topic onwards when you can't defend your statement and I decided to play along quietly, but now you make a 180 and jump back to the conversation from 2 weeks ago.

Again, I can talk about it if you wanted, but just say so next time. I can't keep up with you hopping around so fast.

You started talking about UK Governments on Page 13, but it doesn't mean you stopped talking about UK Government since then.

In fact, you kept talking about UK Governments on Page 16, post 7:

"EA is denying lootboxes altogether, not just FIFA team packs. So its a blatant lie because they marketed Anthem and a few others games by proudly stating that there are no lootboxes in them.

EA is scared that UK government will be coming after them. And the UK is just one of many countries who they'll need to face."

You have then gone MIA for a few days and then came back and cried why are we talking about UK Governments "all of a sudden". Really funny. :D :D :D

Anyway, OP wants to talk about the pace of UK governments action vs US. I am just going to grant his wish and talk about it from the academic standpoint although both governments won't do crap realistically.... and the UK will not even start pursing anything since they don't have money.

https://www.engadget.com/2018/02/07/uk-government-social-media-troll-review/

"Over the last nine months, the UK government has looked at various ways to make the internet safer for people across Britain. In October 2017, culture secretary Karen Bradley published an Internet Safety Green Paper, which discussed a voluntary levy on major social media companies to fund awareness and preventative activity against online trolls and in turn help users report threatening behaviour."

For instance, they wanted to regulate online trolling which Prince Harry called "worse than drug" but they have no money. They asked the internet community to donate. Now, that's funny... how can the governments catch the online trolls or abusive games when they don't have money to pursuit them? No. So they just tell them companies to take care of their own business VOLUNTARILY. :D :D :D

It's a problem outside of rs.

Maybe rs is a shining example, idk..

Even if I were to argue against mtx it doesn't mean I'm arguing against rs. As shit as clans and summoning and lack of PvP, I don't hate rs.
Skillet? Skill no.

So much moot.

No, we've stopped talking about the UK government, and have moved onto talking about enforcement being separate thing from having a law/legislation in place.

I was replying to this:

Not sure how that wasn't clear, but I'm explaining it now.

Anyhow, I've made it very clear in my last reply that if you want to talk about the UK Parliament hearing, I will participate, just don't jump around different topics much like a rabbit.

So here I will oblige.

Why would the opinion of the royal family matter at all here? They don't know a thing about video games and are not invested in it. Political figure with no real power trying to exert influence on something they don't understand enough about. Wow, you really proved your point there.

Good thing we're talking about the UK Parliament and US Congress, and not the royal family.

Also trolling doesn't have anything to do with lootbox/online gambling.

No matter what you replied to. You talked about UK. That's PLAIN TRUTH no matter how hard you tried to deny it. :D :D :D

Everybody who wants to know the actual operation of the UK Parliament and DCMS versus US's Congress and FTC/ESRB, let's continue the academic discussion.

Well, as we can see from the UK Parliament's green paper regarding online safety and trolling and their DCMS's support on it (yes, the same UK Parliament and DCMS that people talked about regarding Jagex and EA's evidence), they want the companies but not the government to take care of their own business because that's the industry's own business and they are the ones who should do things accordingly to protect their own business, not the government.

Likewise, if the UK Parliament was going to do something to MTX, by the same token there could only be a similar Green Paper to call for
Voluntary Levy
from the video game companies and their communities.

However, the UK Parliament won't be using their own money to fund it perhaps because they have spent it all on the ukparliament.tv talk shows. It will be up to the industry to "do something". I can see that some talks on self regulation bodies in UK (similar to ESRB but not the pan-european PEGI) to be established for the online communities including but not limited to video game developers and social media.

Also noticeably missing from the UK efforts comparing to US's ESRB and FTC is their parental guidance and support tools. That's another thing the UK is lagging behind their US contuerpart.

In a nutshell, UK is lagging far behind in online regulation like MTX, anti-trolling etc than the US. It won't matter much anyway because both US and the UK are deeply in favor of self regulations. I can see there will be more well defined guidelines from the industry regarding MTX much like what they do to Fair Play and suing trolls. Really bad apples in the industry like casinos pretending to be games will be flagged eventually. Good thing for real ethical games like RS3 though. :)

Self regulation has already failed as evidently shown by the ESA as they lump all kinds of in game transactions with loot boxes and not requiring game publishers to indicate that the game has loo boxes.

Nobody wanted the government to step in because there will be problems down the line, but the industry has shown its inability to self regulate, thus forcing players to choose the lesser solution that is getting the government involve.

The greedy game publishers can only blame themselves for letting this happen.
