You are entitled to your opinion, unfortunately this is a matter of fact. Fact is, the definition of "tradeable rare" was defined by the playerbase to be equatable to discontinued. There are two possibilities from here

1) Jagex doesn't pay any attention to their playerbase, and just 'happens' to coincidentally come up with a noun-form of the term 'rare' as well.

Or

2) Jagex knew how players defined "tradeable rare" and maliciously deceived their customers.

Yes I did read the thread.
The thread only confirms the fact that the player did and still do assume that rares will not return.

Rares can return but if they say its a discontinued rare then this isn't possible.

Premise 1: Jagex advertised items as tradeable rares
Premise 2: Tradeable rare is by definition equivalent to discontinued
Conclusion: The advertised items are discontinued

Premise 1 is not debatable, I can provide citations if needed.
Premise 2: If you wish to question this, there are only 2 possibilities...

A Rare doesn't mean Discontinued.
People still think this, but a item is discontinued if they labeled it as discontinued.

Limit and rare are both not Discontinued.

Exactly.

Thus jagex has every right to bring any holiday item they want back.

Just because someone might not like it, doesnt mean they cant.

Jagex frequently re-releases items they call rare or limited, but does not re-release items they call discontinued, usually.

If your definition is different than Jagex's definition, I would treat Jagex as the authority on this matter since they make the game, and go with Jagex's definition.
