“How dare you say such a thing, you useless follower of a pretender god?”

“Sliske is more of a god than your pathetic one! Might I remind you who it was who slew Guthix himself?”

“Guthix probably killed himself upon being forced to see your god’s face when he awoke.”

“I suppose it is possible- for Guthix to rather die than see your dwellberry god.”

Relomia and Julienne were by now glaring directly into each other’s eyes, each step taken forward in the exchange culminating in their faces only a few centimeters apart, their torsos pressed up against one another while the garden supplier, Erica, stood in the background looking slightly terrified.

Two leather clad hands came down, lightly tapping each of the young women on the shoulder, and both turned in unison.

…To look at Sir Tiffy Cashien.

Both girls immediately began to look sheepish, Julienne because she had been caught acting undignified, and Relomia because she had not been given a kind impression of White Knights in the past, and did*’t want to be thrown out of Falador without getting what she needed.

“Now, could you explain to me why two young ladies would be causing such a ruckus in the park here?” He asked, before immediately putting his hand up to cut off the twin cries of “She started it!”
“Julienne?”

“This demonic woman openly admitted that she is gathering supplies for her evil god!”

“He’s not evil! And stop calling me a demon!”

“Julienne?” Tiffy began, “Do we have to have another conversation about how Asgarnia allows freedom of worship as long as it does not break any other laws?”

“No sir…”

“And you, miss…” he turned,

“Relomia.”

“Relomia. What was it that you were here for?”

“I needed to pick up some things from the Garden supplier, I have the list right- Oh, it’s saying that I need to give it to you.”

Tiffy frowned and took the small sheet of paper from Relomia. Just as he saw the instruction to give it to him fade, a new set of words bled in with flawless penmanship.

Hello there, Temple Knight. I must thank you for preventing our representatives for coming to blows.

“I wouldn’t suppose it would be too far a leap to assume that you would be Sliske, given the identity of this young lady? And may I ask what you need several bags of grass and sunflower seeds for, along with a handful of bagged plants? I somehow doubt that you decided to take up gardening in your spare time.”

No, no, I’m afraid that I have no skill with plants. Neither does our good friend Akrisrae it appears. Tiffy gritted his teeth,

Ah? Struck a nerve have I? Don’t be so mad, Akrisrae’s quite happy, and has been all but adopted by my group of brothers

“Get to the point Sliske.” Tiffy grunted, the normally cheerful man looking murderous.

Oh, yes, my original point. Quite plainly put, they’re decorations. You see, I’ve recently come into possession of a quite sizable piece of property, but alas, its former owner left in quite a state of disrepair. I need it looking its best given the august guests that will be attending an event of mine soon, a cross between a housewarming party and a celebration of my apotheosis. I’m looking forward to Saradomin attending it.

“And what assures you that my lord would be interested in attending such an event? He doesn’t hold you in very high regard.”

Because you will be alerting the Society of Owls through the Church of Saradomin that they are to send a party to Paterdomus. While traveling there, they will find Zaromark Silver, a former revolutionary in Morytania who worked with hidden Saradominist agents to circumvent the Edicts and bring salvation to Morytania, as well as a witness to a brutal crime against Saradomin in the name of another god. I’m certain that Saradomin will wish to have words with the one responsible, and I will be using various methods to ensure the attendance of the other gods.

“If I already know that you intend to use underhanded methods to attract the other gods, then why should I trust your information to be true? The temple knights have already sustained losses due to your meddling, as you helpfully reminded me of earlier.”

There was several seconds of a pause, the paper remaining completely blank, then instead of fading in, the new words were written, as though a hand were writing them, the motions mockingly playful.

Because your only other option is to let a murderer run free, after soaking in the blood of Saradominists. I’m sure that your god wouldn’t be too happy that you allowed such a disaster to occur, and Misthalin might go into a panic if they found that another set of murders were going on and the authorities were ignoring it.

Rolling up the paper, Tiffy called over a nearby squire, instructing the young man to contact Sir Amik and arrange a meeting over an important matter.

Then he turned to the two women, who had been nervously shuffling the whole time, and patted them on the heads, his expression softening.

“Why don’t we have some tea and biscuits while Miss Erica prepares your order? My young niece is a bit headstrong, but I’m sure that you’ll indulge this old man in his intent to spoil the younger generation instead.” Tiffy smiled at the two of them.

The two women breathed a sigh of relief together at their fight being forgotten, before catching the other’s glance, and then they huffed and turned away from each other.

---

It had been a week since then, and with a few applications of magic that would have made anyone who knew terrified of stepping on the grass, the gardens, which was the last part of the citadel remaining, was finally completed.

And so, as the time ticked down, Sliske made arrangements, coerced individuals, and set up fun little puzzles for the World Guardian to stall until the perfect moment.

Filling up the ceramic pots with seeds and labeling them “Offerings to Armadyl” was a bit of a personal joke.

Handing a small list to each of the barrows brothers, the day before the event, he said “ This is the full list of invitations. Gods: Armadyl, Bandos, Brassica Prime, Icthlarin, Marimbo, Saradomin, Seren, Zamorak, Zaros. Other mischief-makers: Death, World Guardian. Don’t let anyone else in, and don’t let the World Guardian in without the invitation that I’ve hidden.”

Everything was prepared, everything had fallen into place, and everything that could ruin his plan was isolated or eliminated. So why did Sliske have a nagging feeling that he had forgotten something?

---The next day---

”Sliske! You promised me that I would be invited! I was so happy that you invited me, and I was looking forward to this day every night before I went to sleep!”

“Gods allowed only.” Guthan said down to the girl, not even registering the current state of her.

“Somehow, I feel bad for her getting tricked by Sliske like this.” Wahisteil facepalmed at the depressing scene of Relomia sobbing uncontrollably in front of the wall of Barrows Brothers.

“It seems it doesn’t pay to arrive early. Now we Zarosians look like the bad guys for being on the same side as that cruel Mahjarrat.” Azzanadra looked slightly uncomfortable being near the scene.

“Sliske, you idiot…” Relomia mumbled, “You’re going to have to make it up to me for this…”

Hmm, we're still missing how she wound up stranded on a floating island out back.

Great read, beginning to (hopefully not the) end.

By far the best line:

It just feels so Sliske . You have a gift for keeping the characters in-character during these. Some of these (my own included) tend to bend the characters to fit the story.

So, Cybernet....Are you Mod Osborne on his personal account?

There is nothing to see here, there is no conspiracy.

I could write it out later today, but the basic gist is that Kharshai shows up and is irritated that the two groups of Mahjarrat are both trying to ignore the girl. He dries her tears and she is embarrassed at crying in front of everyone, and accidentally falls into the shadow realm while running away.

She manages to get out of it, but ends up stranded on the rock because she misjudged the distance that she moved while in the shadow realm.

Two of the main character points of Sliske (IMO) are that he makes an effort to ruin the composure of others, and that he avoids lying outright unless necessary, preferring to twist the truth or use wording that implies a different meaning to the person he's talking to. In World Wakes, he promises "We will not kill Guthix", which is true. He did it by himself.

In the section below what you quoted, I had Sliske phrase his wording in such a way that implied a certain other meaning to Tiffy about the situation, such as making Zaromark sound like a brave Saradominist revolutionary, and implying that the god "responsible" for the deaths would be attending.

I'm not sure about me not bending characters to fit the story, given that Relomia is completely lovestruck in everything that I write, and most side characters get their personalities painted over by whatever's convenient for the story.

Normally of course, this isn't a problem given that most NPCs in Runescape have the personality of a brick.

Ahrim however, had used some basic necromancy to kill and immediately revive a large number of small birds, which he then used to cull the insects and other pests that had made their home in the area. This had the unfortunate effect of making him look like a demented version of one of the princesses from human children’s stories, who controlled birds and small animals to perform menial duties
Cybernet377 said :
There was even a zombified canary sitting on Ahrim’s shoulder looking satisfied with the situation.

Snow Wight and the Seven Bros! Ehehehehe... :D

Edit: I know it's incorrect, it just fit together. Don't ruin my joy.
