Despite the fact that now, our adventure starts with the Troll Warzone. Almost all of the skill, combat, guides tutors are located in Lumbridge. I can easily see that the Player Character is born and spent most of his/her life in Lumbridge. And almost all the easy quests like: Cooks Assistant, Sheep Shearer, The Restless Ghost can be done while our characters were still children/teenage. I can particularly see the events of The Blood Pact, meeting Xenia, stopping a cult etc etc became a huge inspiration for our young Player Character to start dreaming of becoming an adventurer. Explore the world beyond this small town, help people.

Since the player character has a big family, I am convinced then the PC is born in a farm family. It's not that unlikely, as Lumbridge/Draynor and the surrounding areas are considered the Breadbasket of Misthalin. But at the same time, it wouldn't be too out of ordinary for them to have learned how to play piano. Back then, a peasant usually receives basic education from the church, so I can see that the PC learned to play piano/organ in the Saradomin Church in Lumbridge.

The Adventurer likes hot chocolate!

....

I could have told you that! I mean come on, who doesn't like Hot Chocolate? :P

Hates cabbage, loves hot chocolate- typical.
"We call it being a hero"
"That's interesting, we call it utter stupidity"

The Adventurer likes tea.

(In the Holy Grail quest, or if simply adventuring - you can meat Sir Galahad whom is now a monk. He makes you tea constantly in conversation, and if drunk the Adventurer will exclaim that he/she loves tea.)

A very interesting thread. Of course, some of the stuff you gave as 'hints' to backstory aren't really intended to be taken seriously. They were just thrown in as jokes, for the most part. The 'brother' thing is one of those jokey statements made when trying to speak to the ghost without a Ghostspeak Amulet, and the 'grandmother' thing is just a taunt to motivate someone that doesn't REALLY say anything about the adventurer's family. I don't think we can really take any of those seriously.

Nor can we take things like the cabbage thing seriously, either.

In any case, while the new management at Jagex has a different opinion on a lot of things than the old management (older quests, microtransactions, the wildy, and so on), I don't think our character will be given an official backstory any time soon. I think they'll stick to the principle that we, the players, can fill in the backstory ourselves.

It's still worth noting, references to family members in the form of taunts could actually end up being literal later on.

Just like Lucien's daughter :P
You can only fully appreciate a story when you experience it through the eyes of one of its characters.

Indeed. Also, who would actually refer to their grandmother or brother without having one? I know I wouldn't. And with a character like the player character who has very little lore, I need to collect all the scraps of lore in order to tell their story, be it serious or not.

Bump.
What I'd like to add; The Player Character's origin seems to differ to such as the tutorial changes don't you think?

[A bit roleplaying here is included xD]

First there was the group who began at Tutorial Island; Here there was a group of skilled tutors who settled on this island who welcomed, gathered and recovered adventurers. They gave shelter to these fellows, taught them basic skills of survivals and whoever dared, they were sent to Lumbridge to continue or begin their adventure.

Then came at a point where the adventurer would find himself into a cellar (I'd like to know how...), "woken" up by the rumbling of the dragon. You help your new knightly friend, Sir Vant, and you assist him killing a three-headed dragon.(What a start, I might add)

Afterwards came a time where one would start in Explorer Jack's house. He made a lot of travelling where he could have found the adventurer around and offered him shelter. At these times, the combat academy has been constructed and one could find a lot of tutors around.

Lastly, now the adventurer begins in Burthrope. In the cutscene, it seems as he is an inhabitant of the town, or has moved to Burthrope. It seems also as he already has a bit of reputation, you get handed a weapon by the signature heroes and you fight along side of them.

-------

Also in (late) response to the amnesia theory; It doesn't necessarily mean he's an amnesic hero with abilities he always knew. He might have been a normal civilian with no surprising talent. He had been lucky to be recovered in one of the tutorials and been taught the necessities. Of course, I'm giving my point of view.

Best Regards.

Personally, I disagree with most the conjecture in the original posts. The Adventurer IS you and it's /almost/ (not entirely) completely what you make of it. Maybe I just take the roleplaying part a tad more serious than others, but it is an MMO/RPG/.

Also, point in case...just look at my avatar. My version of 'The Adventurer' doesn't have the supposed eye color most have, she's even an anthropomorphic with fox ears.
