"Player: That's a funny name you've got.
Narf: 'Narf'? Do you think that's funny? At least I don't call myself 'playername'! Where did you get a name like that?
Player: It seemed like a good idea at the time!
Narf: Bah!

Emphasis on the part 'it seemed like a good idea at the time'. This means the player character invented the name they are using, not their parents."

------------------------------------------

When I talked to Narf, I didnt see that as the player using an alias, I saw it more was Jagex breaking the Fourth Wall. They've done it before. I recall a conversation with a priest in Lumbridge where the player tells the priest something along the lines of "Well, this isnt real. This all just a video game!"

I like to think of it as an Alias as well ;o

Great thread :P

Personally I consider death non-canon in my opinion; it makes a lot of quests where the adventurer is saved by friends or they sacrifice their lives to save us more meaningful if you consider there might actually be some danger in it.

but, that's just my opinion.
You can only fully appreciate a story when you experience it through the eyes of one of its characters.

Okay. This seems to my most successful thread so far, and my normal practice that I answer to EVERY reply I get simply won't cut it here. Due to this, I need to make a collective reply.
But first, thanks for all of you people for reading this thread and replying, I've never seen as much attention in any of my threads and I'm glad you decided to leave a comment. Okay, let's start.

Falador Herald and the family roots

I originally planned to add it to the thread, but due to the random nature of how the game picks from four possible home areas (Kandarin, Misthalin, Asgarnia or Varrock), I decided to not include it. However, since people pointed it out, I could probably mention it.
Challeng3r 2's idea that the player's family had travelled in all of these locations could explain how there are four possible home areas: if the player character has four lines of ancestor, one from each area, Sir Renitee wasn't sure from which one would be the correct one, so he picked one out randomly. Then again, poor people do not travel around the world much and while it would explain the nomadic lifestyle of the Adventurer, the material that I have gathered about the player character implies that they stayed in one area.

Sin Seer

I actually knew that, but I didn't remember that while writing this thread. I would expect that this is same to all players, which implies that the Adventurer has done something horrible in their past; that may also be the reason why we haven't explored the Adventurer's past: the sin caused them to abandon their past. Then again, some people can deem something as a sin what others don't.
An in-game example would be Sister Anna who went on a murderous killing spree during One Piercing Note for the sin of dancing . On the other hand, in order to even start the miniquest, we must have quite high Thieving and combat levels, which includes stealing from weak and mass-murdering monsters.

Balance Elemental knowing us in the future

Personally, I am quite skeptical towards this, but it is possible. For a one reason, although plenty of supplementary material implies that Balance Elemental has time-related powers, no source in-game or no recent J-Mod clarification claim that Balance Elemental has powers related to time. And even if the Balance Elemental saw the Adventurer's future, but why did it treat them like a friend? If the community will decide whether we will banish/kill gods or let them stay on Gielinor, it would mean that we may not have the possibility to fulfill Guthixs last wish, meaning that Balance Elemental wouldn't treat us as a friend because we fulfilled Guthix's last wish. And since RuneScape doesn't have an ending, the Adventurer can't ever die permanently. Even if the funeral Balance Elemental told us would occur, we would either fake our death or be resurrected afterwards.

Info about the Adventurer's grandmother:
Sure, I made some research and found the dialogue.

Player: Now you can go and speak to Aga!
Ug: I too scared.
Player: Has anyone ever told you that you are a useless troll? My grandmother has more guts than you and she doesn't even have her teeth anymore!

The player character's brother:

I haven't actually heard about that one. The dialogue may be implied as a joke, but seeing the scarce amount of lore behind the Adventurer, we could confirm that the Adventurer has a brother (presumably around the same age or slightly older than the Adventurer themselves). Seeing that The Adventurer has a brother, there may be, and most likely are, more siblings as well.

Poll about the official facts about player character:

I agree with this and I like this idea, but I'm afraid that this could lead to the Adventurer receiving plenty of downright silly characteristics (technicolor hair, silly/impractical clothing, bizarre personality quirks or a special skill area like the Signature Heroes) or ignoring the ones already existing (the information mentioned in this thread).

Player character is right-handed:

I wanted to cover this one, but I ran out of space. But to put it short: yes, the Adventurer is right-handed at the first glance, but since the Adventurer can dual-wield weapons, which only ambidextrous people can do, the Adventurer is ambidextrous, but right-hand dominant.
Also, it's interesting to note that dual-wielding in real life is extremely hard art to master, and even in RuneScape, only few beings asides the Adventurer are able to pull it off: notably and as the only example I can remember, the Raptor. (What did you think those two shortswords he carries in his belt are for? Decoration?)

The player thinks Saradomin created him/her, which means the player shouldn't have parents:

The piece of dialogue when denying from the services of the Make-Over Mage? I doubt that the Adventurer actually means that they were created by Saradomin, but is instead using a phrase common in Saradominist kingdoms, and that the Adventurer simply doesn't want to have a magical skin tone/gender change operation. And word-to-word, I think ''I'm happy as Saradomin made me.'' , means: ''Saradomin decided what I look when I was fathered, so I shouldn't do anything to change my appearance, since Saradomin is the god of order and wisdom and above all else: thus, we shouldn't judge our lord's decision he made in his perfection.''

EDIT: The dialogue was removed 11.12.2013 with World Event 2, so it doesn't matter anymore.

This could indicate the other peoples' ignorance of the Adventurer's powers?

It would reinforce his compliance to an Aias.

Seemingly, his Alias may be tied to the Thieving skill - it is illegal after all.

Edit: Also, I like to think the player as a descendant directly from one of the gods (up to player's choice, at this point) which would tie together:
- His divine abilities
- His appearance in Lumbridge
- His poor-Ish descent (gods don't use currency, they're gods!)
- His need to help everyone around him
- His change of eye colour (malleable mortal form, perhaps?)
- His athletic ability.

I always love seeing things like this. While I do enjoy working out a backstory for my character, it's cool to have these little bits of information to tie in. You've got a really interesting thread here, I like it =)

Also, I'm not sure if this matters since it's been removed from the game... But, a few years ago when Gnomecopters were still around, I had examined a signpost or something, and it said you had to be at least 5 feet 6 inches tall to ride them. So, since we could ride them.. tells us at least how tall our characters are as well. This is still mentioned on the wiki, so I guess it's still an interesting bit of information =P
