I just went back and read the original memories to compare with this new memory. The first set calls Saradomin an invader who swapped sides when Tuska showed up. Compare with what we have learned about Saradomin in quests involving him, the pattern does not seem to be one of extermination, but of covert or be conquered. We do not know how long the invasion was, but we do know that Saradomin's crown drew Tuska. It seems like from the first memories, however, that she was far more destructive and closer to genocide like behavior.
Also, the first set of memories tell us that by the time Guthix ascended by killing Skargaroth, he knew Saradomin's name, so this new memory is not a great lore fail. The comparison is pretty clear: Saradomin waged a war at Naragun to prepare them for a greater threat, preaching his usual belief that sacrifices must be made to stop greater evils. This was largely rejected by the Naragi, and thus many died at his hands. Tuska eventually arrives and finishes them off. In comparison: Guthix accidentally let the pests into Gelinor, which required sending his followers to die to keep the entire planet safe. Guthix reveals in this new memory that he realized part of Saradomin's message was right even if his means had been wrong.
If the war with the Naragi went on for some years, it would be no surprise that Saradomin's message of submit to avoid ruin would have been heard by Guthix at some point.
Finally (and this is speculation and theory now), when Tuska attacks in the first set of memories, Guthix notes that Saradomin fought the beast directly, something worth noting, so it might be reasonable to assume Saradomin was not bringing his full power to bare by not often directly attacking the Naragi (as most gods have proven hesitant to engage in such struggles often).
