In order to transport the relatively few pure blood vampyres, Drakan was going to need the blood of most if not all the Morytanian humans. Again, interplanetary transport is costly. And this particular method wouldn't have been able to transport all the Icyene even if they gathered every last drop of blood from the other native race unless said other race grossly outnumbered them (or possessed a lot of blood).

That's beside the point, however, since there's no indication of Saradominist utilization of blood magic until after the fall of the Zarosian Empire.

And as far as I can tell, Drakan's Portal's pylons are never remarked as familiar, just ominous. It's the design of the Vampyrium castle that Vanescula finds familiar (given its slight differences from the one on Gielinor and her having previously lived in it).

The entire planet depends on one massive nuclear reactor made by a civilization long departed and all information about how it works has been lost with them. Even if you rule the world and can experiment on the power supply, you generally wouldn't do so as a screw up would destroy your civilization.

Tbh, if I had a nuclear reactor I probably wouldn't just drop people into it.
And for it to have so many uses within that civilization it seems pretty obvious that they must've experimented on it various times, so it can't really have been considered that taboo.
Plus of course, Saradomin would've been experimenting with it for the purpose of actually learning how to create a similar thing, which is really the most justifiable reason to experiment with it in the first place, the worst thing that could happen is that he destroys it but learns how to make another and then does so. (Not actually the worst thing that could happen I know, but you get my point)
Although really this is just arguing over a very minor point, in comparison to the rest of the thread, but it is at least an interesting thing to discuss.

You learn to tap it for power (a rather simple thing to do for electricity (one wire to the positive terminal (the one that fries people when they touch it), the other end of the wire to ground/the negative terminal)). From there it's just a matter of tinkering with the wiring (not the power source) and what the supplied power can be used to do (which doesn't involve tinkering with the power source).

The big complicated thing with power is actually creating it in a usable form in the first place, which the reactor is already doing.

In order to learn how your reactor works, you'd need to start tinkering about with your only source of power (or wait for science to make the breakthrough independently of the reactor (which is likely impossible when it comes to the Schism given its presence across multiple worlds indicates it is of elder god origin)) and risk breaking it, rendering everything that depends on it inoperable.

There is no issue with tinkering about with power transport and utilization, but there is a substantial issue when it comes to tinkering about with what is making your only power when you can't replace it or necessarily fix it if you break it.
