Fourthly: it does not make sense that a great family rises to take power over a small village with little to no economical, military or religious significance. Now, if their power spanned across the entire region, that'd be different, but Sinclairs likely fulfilled that role; and the names "Cather" and "Sother" were clearly taken from existing place-names just to come up with names for two new families. In addition, as there were no settlements in the region prior to the Seers' arrival in the region of Seers' Village, so why would "Sothers" have any reason to rule over it?

Fifthly: There we no druids in Kandarin during the Fifth Age: they existed only in the eastern side of White Wolf Mountain. Next: the Elemental Workshop was discovered after Seers' Village was founded, likely some time after Seers' Village was founded, so Virtuvius wouldn't have been present in the region, and most likely operated somewhere else, like in Ardougne. Seers' Village has also been called like that since its founding, so "Sotherby" is strictly speaking a lorefail.

Sixthly: Does Thrormac REALLY need this much lore? The descendant of a family who ruled over a region and the practitioner of magical knowledge from millennia ago? That sounds a bit over the top, if you ask me. Sure, Thormac could use lore, but I do not like what you have offered so far.

I understand the original Seers Village seers being Fremmenik in origin, but possibly include some others? If they accept other cultures, I imagine that others that might possibly have access to that magic might have joined them, perhaps a couple seers of alternate races.

The ability to be a seer is likely a hereditary trait, not a learned one: therefore, only the descendants of the Fremennik seers can ever become seers.

Oh, nearly forgot. The battered book mentions "magi" who closed down the Elemental Workshop since they thought the ore was too powerful. So either "magi" is a generic word for wizards/seers, another name for the Seers Council, or an organization that no longer exists.

Probably refers to mages in general who worked there, as well as Wizards' Tower and Wizards' Guild. The Elemental Workshop quests refer to Vitruvius working with a free-lance mage, for example.

Do note that Seers' Village was settles easily over a century ago. There's no way that the graphical design of the place would look like it was recently settled.

First - You've read some of my headcannon concerning alternate conceptions of magic before. I developed these a lot more in my recent thread (that I've cited frequently in all my posts here). Neither sorcery nor mysticism should have provided Gielinor's humans with the same capacities that modern runic magic has made possible - 'sorcery' and 'mysticism' are concepts that make sense of those few humans over the millennia who might have cultivated some magical abilities without runestones, such as Virtus. I don't expect these concepts to do much in the way of upsetting existing lore, just to supplement it. Your point about more mystic robes is fair - I'd just like to see what designs they'd make.

Second - I tend to make all the mystics look like seers, but interpret their abilities slightly more broadly than merely looking into the future. In every other case, traditional mystical practices have given way to the new practices of modern runic magic.

Third - I considered the problem of etymology and was just having fun (thus every self-interested suggestion is parenthetical). In more than eight millennia, I'm sure a Fremennik or two has wondered about the planes.

Fourth - Yes, the family names are made up based on place names (originally they literally came from a dream I had). The Sothers might have employed peasant farmers in those lands, or might have patrolled them occasionally, or hunted there...

Fifth - These are fair points. But I've also written headcannon, and I'm open to changes in the lore - I'm not a stickler about all the historical lore.

Sixth - Certainly he does not - I used Thormac to develop my own headcannon tremendously, so my attention to him is simply a byproduct of the writing I've already done.

Last - fair point

I feel like there should be some minor Armadylean influence in the village, since we can gather from While Guthix Sleeps that the Guardians of Armadyl occasionally visit the village for supplies and such.

I don't think the present-day seers have much of a connection with the Fremennik, beyond that they appear to be allies (we can gather that they probably consulted them before heading to Daemonheim after the strange power, for instance.)
You never were our brightest star, Khazard. 'Vermin slaughtered like lambs'? What does that even mean?

It's still unclear to me when Seers Village was founded. But supposing it was early in the Fifth Age, then perhaps there can be some lore connecting Seers Village and the Runecrafting Crusades?

One potential idea:

In the year 32, the Fremennik begin their crusades. They ask their seers if they will be victorious, but the seers either give them unclear answers or outright tell them they will lose. Tensions rise and the seers split off (or are banished?) and found Seers Village. After the crusades, the Fremennik realize the seers were correct, and reconcile. This is why there are still Fremennik seers today, but not as many as there used to be.

Really though this is just a modification (or addition) to your second point, Kelpy.

Virtruvius workshop was built, and destroyed before the Runecrafting Crusades, and Seer's Village was already there, so there are several issues with this concept (although I agree, the Fremmy Crusades should be mentioned somehow),

It's hard to say. It's a bit of a farming sort of village with those beehives and flax fields, with fairly (rs-wise) modern architecture that'd always sort of nestled in with Ardougne and Catherby.

I can't think of much because the seers have never been major lore figures. I'd just imagine a less bustling East Ardougne filled with seers. It's got an inn, a smithy, a labyrinthic underground basement of sanity-destroying puzzles, it's a town. The "seer" part of it has never really been the focus, it's remembered for the flax farms, beehives and maple tree resources in a pleasant, autumnal town bordering a lake.

-pretty up the lake for a nice thing to look at while woodcutting maples?
-more of a town vibe, mixing up the people instead of an inn of regular humans and the rest of the town filled with identical white-robed gigatuplets
-preferably extend it to King Arthur's castle, that old eyesore sitting between updated Catherby and to-be-updated Seer's
Headcanon Haven, where everything is made up and the points don't matter.

OBJECTION!

If I'm not mistaken, there is *NO EVIDENCE* for seers being Guthixian, beyond the fact that they kind of look like druids - which is a terrible basis of evidence. I believe the village is marked as Saradominist on Jagex's god followings map, and Ariane herself is a nominal wizard of Saradomin (though she's more Godless-ish in her actual outlook).

Nostalgia is a *HORRIBLE* argument. You may have valid points about the textures and what not, but nothing should ever be done just "because nostalgia". I have been playing since 2003 (I'm going to start wearing my 15 year cape in my avatar as soon as I unlock it). Things have changed over time. This has in most cases been a good thing. Believe it or not, whatever year you started playing is not the magical golden age of RuneScape that must be eternally preserved. Unless you're a long-term vet yourself, I can almost guarantee you I remember when your precious looks for these areas were the "new scary different" thing that people just like you were crying and whining about even then.

I enjoyed the Catherby update a lot, for the record. It's given it more of a feel of a Mediterranean mountainside fishing village, and helped with the major problem of how "flat" in general RuneScape's map is. Meanwhile, as a major fan of Falador, my friends and I were *disappointed* with how minor its latest update was (though I understand the reasons - Falador is tied to a lot of different quests and content, and the initial parts of the update were done by the ninja team). For goodness' sake, Jagex, stop listening to people like this guy - They do *NOT* speak for us true vets. If my word isn't enough, I can call on a number of friends who've been playing about as long (or longer) than me and will gladly tell you the same.

Nostalgia does not keep long term players. Things staying the same is *boring*. I have stayed this long with the game *because things change*.
The Asgarnian ale must flow.
