I prefer the idea that the Slug Prince may revive, rather than introduce a Grandmother, although that might end up being too similar so stories such as Blood Runs Deep or the Void Stares Back. Although, this isn't really a concept I thin Jagex would have to worry about looking bad for repeating. Especially if it means making up for Salt in the Wound, where expectations are already low to begin with.

There's been a few statements of late that one of the advantages of the Penguin series is that it can continue for as long as they want it to, which gives them plenty of opportunity to connect the story back to the sea slugs, and hopefully make up for how Some Like It Cold moving the series away from the connection that Hunt for Red Raktuber set up.

While the Invasion of Falador is only temporary, it is supposed to inform future content. The Spirit of Farradorn alludes to a Chosen One, and while I'm interested in it possibly being Eva, which would tie back to Salt in the Wound, it could be someone else that would still with a connection to the Temple Knights series.

Considering what was shown at RuneFest, I think that a bottle quest would be beneficial to giving the series a chance at a revival. Given how Salt in the Wound's quality, Jagex may not want to risk pouring too many resources into continuing the series when there's no guarantee that people would like it. A bottle quest would minimize the resources - and therefore the risk - while hopefully working towards a rewarding experience. I'd rather see a bottle sequel over an immense rework anyway. The problem would be trying to find where that "bottle" could be.

they could give all who have completed Salt in the wound a cutscene when they log-in showing mother Mallum creeping out from under the pillar

What if she's a Pokémon and the encounter made her evolve...
Bizarre Boron Fusswell, scryer extraordinaire. OSRS: POH ideas & RS3 minigames & achievement ideas !

Perhaps you're half right; perhaps we can't win. But we can fight.

I know this is a joke, but I would actually be okay with this. The question is, what would a slug evolve into? I could see a snail, but doesn't seem like much.

I'm with you on the Prince, though not a revived one. Rather a new one altogether birthed by Mallum before her death offscreen. Then when that Prince died the Sea Slug race changes dramatically.

Honestly the Invasion gave me really strong Kara-Meir vibes.

Maybe it's been addressed in this thread or another, or not and I'm just making this up, but I could see Mother Mallum being a Chthonian.

The only line we get towards a revived Prince is "The Prince will be reborn in all his glory!", so they could maybe get away with that by saying that the idea of a Slug Prince was reborn. If the new Prince changes the race dramatically, that would feed back to what I said about Chthonians.

While I could see the Chosen One being Kara-Meir, I'm not sure if there's someone in mind or if it was supposed to be vague so they can decide on who it referred to at a later point.
