I t makes me wonder how they managed to survive in the Zarosian empire unless they only worked at night, I don't remember any mention of Zaros's empire being in perpetual night
-----
I'm betting on there being some sort of Skyrim logic going on in regards to that. Basically, the idea is that vampires are noticeably stronger at night....but in the day they don't really die so much as suffer from their power being weaker and some advantages outright disappearing until nightfall.

Come to think of it, that could help explain why the Sinister Stranger (think that was his name) was able to go and compete in the fishing contest all those years ago. Does anyone remember if he said anything specifically about light affecting him at all? O_o

That would explain why Dessous was decrepid, since death by old age was near.
----
Idk. I thought that silver pot and whatever else was in it did the trick more than age. Age probably helped, but if Dessous was weak solely because of it...well, then just how decrepit is Drakan right about now? He can't be that weak, or else Vanescula probably would have just gone and killed him already and claim to the others that he was weak and just died of old age if she got questioned about it.

Unless she already did. But that seems to contradict what we were told anyway from what I can see.

I return to you broken, beaten, skewered, mutilated, riddled with bolts and exsanguinated from the super barriow bros well to report that there is no new lore inside the portal. Only pain. And the thousand rocktails that the portal gobbled up from my yak :@

*Insert comforting action for Doogle here*

I haven't taken a look inside the area yet. But how did you manage to lose that many rocktails from a portal? O_o

I think it as da bros in the portal....and the fact that the portal seems to enjoy blowing itself up and taking everyone else there down with it.

Is it possible that "created" vampyres suffer more from light (or sunlight) than do 'true vampyres"?

I would be inclined to agree that sunlight more takes their advantages away then outright hurts them.

And can someone source where we know that the Icyene plane is one of perpetual light, or just long daylight periods? I don't remember seeing that anywhere....

When I die I lose every rocktail in my yak, and I have died alot . I assume the portal gobbles them up along with the instance :) There isn't really much to see, there is some very interesting "living shadow" stuff going on the walls which looks fantastic and there are some symbols on the pressure pads before the barriers which I think are similar to the second/third age symbols seen in the slayer tower and the ancient prison, I'm guessing they're simply decorative.

(Speaking of symbols, Mod Ana should totally pass on that a dictionary of ancient symbols should be worked out and spewed across appropriate quests for the lore hounds to decipher. We need some academic mysteries)

It is from Padomenes' dialog, I think he mentions that its because the Iceyene homeworld rotates so slowly that the days last about a year in Gielinor time, but that might be my brain filling in the implicit stuff. Extra long days definitely though.

If I remember there are some scenes in the book where vampyres (Tenebra?) manipulate the darkness directly, perhaps their weakness is that they lose this ability in the absence of adequate shadow. Definitely a pain for any aspiring master of blood and shadows.

I shouldn't have said 'near perpetual light' since 1000 years really isn't that near to eternity in the grand scheme of things!

In the book it was Malak who manipulated shadows to create a throne for himself when speaking to King Roald's delegation in Canifis. He could make a fortune selling furniture.
