Wow, Malak, haven't heard his name in a long time.

I really hope Jagex hasn't forgotten about him. As the only guardian of Jaldraocht left alive, he could have a HUGE role in the 6th age, especially with the Zaros quest coming up. I suspect Zamorak also wouldn't be too pleased with him, knowing Malak didn't defend the blood diamond to the death.

Another thought - Ana said at Runefest that the gods wouldn't be directly involved in the Myreque story line. Myreque is really the story of Morytania, and Meiyerditch is one of Gielinor's biggest cities, so I feel like they'd have to introduce a pretty big mechanic/plot point/stake/etc to keep it off the table for gods. It would be easy for tier 3 Saradomin to take Morytania away from tier 5 Zamorak now, and the last time we saw him, Raispher was actively looking for a way to bypass the Edicts, so how do ya'll think they'll keep the gods from interfering?

Well, there could always be the old 'Saradomin's busy, Zamorak isn't powerful enough to be useful to Drakan anymore so he won't bother with it, Zaros is still gone, and everyone else just doesn't care about the region' excuse to keep gods out of that story. It's not like there's a whole lot of options for that sort of thing right now >_<

I reckon Malak has a lot of potential as a character given his past as well as his present position within the Drakan hierarchy as well as his place near the border with Misthalin. I hope we get to see him in action too.

For some reason I can't remember this, but...just what is Malak's position in Drakan's hierarchy anyway? And what do we know of his past so far?

Malak's position: Perhaps I am overstepping myself by saying that he is 'high up' in Drakan's hierarchy, since we don't know exactly he stands in it. However, we do know that he is of the nobility, is an ancient Vampyre and has control over at least two territories within Morytania (Canifis and whatever Dessous owned). We also know from Desert Treasure that he has access to Drakan himself, as he threatened to take the player to him if he didn't leave the area. Also, if the novels are anything to go by (and Jagex say they are), Malak isn't subordinate to Vanescula. I can't remember what happened between them, but I certainly remember that Malak did not feel out of control around her.

His past: All we know so far is that he is an ancient Vampyre and that he was a guardian of the blood diamond.

I *think* Vansecula may even be in debt to Malak, does he not help her at the end of Legacy after she is wounded? Can't remember precisely whether or not this was him repaying a debt or indebting her but if she owes him a favour that makes him one of the most powerful beings in Morytania

^Last I checked it didn't. But to be fair, I was also a little zoned out between allergy meds and general exhaustion from schoolwork when I listened to it last so maybe I just missed it if anything was mentioned >_>

I was listening to an old podcast (actually, I think it was Above the Lore #1), and it seemed notable to me, Ana and Osborne seemed to agree that removing the Edicts actually resolved potential plotholes and roadblocks from the planned Myreque story, rather than adding to them. Ana also said the Edicts were why she couldn't yet use Drakan.

So what could this mean? Does Drakan have some major link to the gods? Is he on the cusp of godhood himself? Is there some source of Elder Power in Morytania?

Drakan had his dealing before with the Gods. Now, I personally don't want the Gods to get involved in the Myreque series, but I have this mortal feeling that in order for the series to end, Sanguinesti would have to either become entirely Zamorakian or Saradominist territory, and Saradomin/Zamorak might have something to say about that.. perhaps as a World Event in the far off future..

Edit: 1000 posts. Friends, I would like to share a toast, for our loreans and historians, for our friends, for our discussions; for the greatest Myreque discussion thread in existence. Amen.
