Vanstrom's targeting of the Myreque has been a thing since the START of the series. He's the very first NPC we interact with. He's been targeting the Myreque since then, even after we managed to salvage the Myreque, be it through his lackeys rather than directly until he was given the opportunity otherwise.

You'll also get some more hints as to his motives a bit further along in The Lord of Vampyrium. It opens a lot of really interesting ideas, the biggest one having been part of an old theory that's been given new merit.

Yes I understand all that but Vanstrom has been little to no presence in Darkness and Legacy. A sudden spurt of activity needs explanation or just comes off poor writing. "Oh I remembered I'm supposed to be harassing the Myreque so my death in this quest seems less of a pull out of thing air" isn't good.

I assume you are referring to the Vanstrom is Safalaan's father theory? Whilst I can see how you can interpret stuff hinting at that, I never really got what the point of that would be. Post death trying to change things never really works well and is that really stuff a finale should be bogged down with? I'm getting The Legend of Korra season 2 vibes and we all know how that was received.

One Piercing Note takes the largest slice of the cake for me. It's just so engaging from the settings, plot flow, to the audio and other minor details.

One Piercing Note stands as a testament to the idea that a Novice-level quest can be fun, engaging, and downright interesting. The community tends to view Novice quests as throwaway nuisance quests, feeling they will always lack what their higher-level counterparts bring to the table.

- The balls had coloured rims. The entire balls could have been coloured and that would have made it easier. I'm fine w

Might be your computer? They're fully coloured for me****

**: Vanstrom boss fight; yeah, he's stupidly easy now. The "buff" from August or sth helped nothing at all. Pre-EoC he was actually challenging and a really fun fight.

PS. Still busy...
Bizarre Boron Fusswell, scryer extraordinaire. OSRS: POH ideas & RS3 minigames & achievement ideas !

Perhaps you're half right; perhaps we can't win. But we can fight.

Possibly, although it is less than a year old so wonder why it would be like that.

There's no rush as I'm busy too. I decided to finish Lord of Vampyrium whilst I was at it, get it out of the way. Will likely post a review when its less hectic.

So here is my review for the Lord of Vampyrium. Can the Myreque get at least one good quest before the series ends? Please no one post until I'm finished.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone knows my stance on the Myreque series. I’m not a fan of the series - I find the quests below par, generally the writing has been weak and cannot understand the popularity the series seems to have. So it will come to no surprise that when it came to the poll, I voted for Floor 61.

Floor 61 just sounded much more interesting and exciting that yet another Myreque quest. The poll discussed playing from differing perspectives and the opportunity to explore Bilrach, Moia, Zamorak ect this way sounded like a rich and engaging experience. It would answer a lot of burning lore and plot questions, offer great character development and provide an ending for the dungeoneering saga. On the other hand the other poll option was the Myreque series - a series I would put as middle to low quality compared to other quests, poor with character development (and characters in general) and not an engaging plot. Floor 61 seemed a by far superior option. I still stand by my vote.

However as we know, Myreque won the poll. I cannot pretend I was happy with that. However I wasn't hostile to the quest. Yes I thought the worst option won but it was voted for and it had been a while since the last Myreque quest. I could accept the outcome, enjoy other updates and hopefully next time an option I liked would be made. (You can start to see here part of where my vehment opposition to the Myreque finale being made comes from - its simply unfair on other series and players that we get more of the same again and again ).

Then news about the production began and it was actually positive. It was being developed by the Guardians and Mod Rowl*y. Unlike the general consensus, I was not a fan on Branches of Darkmeyer. Sorry Ana, The World Wakes and Guthixian Caches were good but Branches was weak - it features little to no character development (well that was good at least), the setting wasn't utilised to its full potential and the villain deaths felt unsatisfying. So I was pleased with the change. Rowl*y has done good work in the past and the Guardians have a reputation for being thorough with their work even if the concepts aren't great for me so I was hopeful this change would improve the series. Rowl*y also showed an understanding of the flaws of the series which gave me more faith and the focus was set to be on Drakan which given the series has been very poor of characters I was glad to see some attempt to fix that.

For a quest series I dislike and a poll option I believed (and still believe) was the poorer choice, I was feeling much more optimistic that I expected about the quest. Not going to say excited but the signs were good that this would be better than had came before.

A quick word on the requirements. Not a fan. I appreciated the fact it was master instead of grandmaster for no reason as we get far too many grandmasters for no reason lately. However there is little to no good reason for the hunter and construction requirements to be included other than to fake a feeling of “epicness". This is a trend which is just irritating that anything else like the absolutely unneed 75 Prayer for Plagues End. It just feels really unneccesary. I’m totally fine with high requirements, what I object to is requirements that are unneeded just there for appear like the content is "high level and epic”. When slayers don't had to have requirements for content that suits the update but questers are forced to grind skills that aren't even used and just restrict the content, its annoying. Its just a unneeded double standard.

The quest begins with Vanescula being snappy and sending us to fetch Safalaan. Honestly this part of the quest feels anti-climatic and weak. Safalaan's departure was build up to be something important and whilst the pendant does come into play, this part doesn’t satisfy. Also introduced here is the introduction of the vampiric lock. Whilst I understand the first one has to be simple to teach the mechanics, the fact this stumped Safalaan does little to disprove the Myreque as incompetent. The fact that the Icyene graveyard was not better utilised is also a little disappointing. I understand from the directors cut that it was intended to be a bigger part but was cut. This is a shame as I feel there is some good stuff in the series but we never explore the good stuff - we quickly cut to more Myreque rather that explore the far more exciting Icyene biology and history. Anyway Safalaan gets the pendent and teleports away. Back to the base.
