I don't personally have a problem with the notion of Zamorak intending to become a god and essentially hunting down and killing Zaros in order to make that happen.

However there are three reasons I don't pitch it this way.

Firstly, it makes Curse of Zaros even sillier. If the Staff of Armadyl is known as a weapon which, with relatively little effort, can turn you into a god, the story of it being left unguarded, messed about with and sold for pence in a pub is even less believable.

Secondly, it makes Zamorak's motivations transparently selfish and murderous. He wanted to kill another being (one that was his beneficiary) for his own personal benefit. We lose all subtlety and ability to claim that it was for the good of the empire, the Mahjarrat or the population.

Thirdly, it would make his plan crazy. Why go after Zaros? Even if we assume that Zamorak doesn't know about tiers and how much more powerful than everyone else Zaros actually is, he's still in control of a ridiculous military force by comparison to, say, any of the other gods. It's even Zamorak's actual job to go and do that. If his objective was primarily to ascend, there would have been a lot of much easier targets available.

And yet, he still managed to do it. Maybe it's not as crazy as you'd think...

I first glanced at the very seemingly-primitiviness of the whole surrounding of behaviours and gestures and all, but then i came upon with another glance, dis directing me to all those year before, whereain it very much would've been as primitive-minder as nowadais, eh? Indeed. Brilliance most validating. Change not dis aspect, oh hell of hairy-faced mahjarrat surely.

Nice Zaros sends his doggies to Zamorak instead of fighting himself. I guess Ocellus' brother is doomed to be toasted...

I like Zaros' drawing a lot (despite some tweets saying otherwise, but they are just jealous of your skills).

Or you could say he was power hungry and greedy to the point of impatience and recklessness, which could be one of his character flaws and why he went for Zaros first.

Whoa there Erik, those are Saradomin's flaws. Don't go stealing character flaws for your own god, now.
Patrolling Lore FC almost makes you wish for a Great Revision.

I can't believe I haven't seen this before. This is what happens when I stop looking at the lore forums for a fortnight.

I'm so glad to read this comic! It is nice to know that creative minds are dreaming up these pet projects; it is testament to your dedication to and enthusiasm for the lore.

Keep up the excellent work!

I thought I was mistaken in Fot*, but page 12 confirmed my suspicion: Zaros' mouthpiece is below his face! Now that I look at his picture again, it's kind of obvious, so I can't believe I didn't realize earlier ;-; I'm too Unaligned to have a forum signature.

I certainly believe without a doubt that Zamorak knew that killing Zaros would result in him becoming a god.

First of all, from the podcast we know that Zaros' armies fought and killed gods.

As the head of the army, Zamorak would have heard what happens when you kill gods.

As well

Mod Jack ‏@JagexJack May 10
@Balustan @Noctiseus There were definitely god deaths. It's possible there were ascensions, but if there were, they died as well.

^ See according to this its very possible that Zamorak even witnessed ascensions.

Finally from the Last Riders

Apropos said 'We must ride with Zamorak. The Empty Lord is never going to honour his deal with us. if Zamorak becomes a god tonight , we'll be rewarded for siding with him.' Morvannon had already mounted her dragon, ready to fly.

See you can see why i believe what i do.

The question is not if, but why?, why did Zamorak seek godhood. Well power, but why else? Fear perhaps? Anger and spite maybe... Zaros limited Zamoraks power according to the podcast, so whats the best way to get Zaros back, take his power, like he took Zamoraks.
