I say, absolutely NO SAILING!!! Not as a skill anyway. If Jagex insist, make it a mini, but NOT A SKILL. :[
Sounds like you didn't actually read the thread, because I dealt with that argument quite specifically:
The main reason why I think, if anything, sailing needs to be a skill rather than a minigame is that without being a skill many things don’t make sense. A sailing stat means that having a higher sailing level means:
-Players can unlock better boats
-Players can unlock better resource islands
-Players are better able to avoid dangers
Think of it in terms of another skill, for example strength. The strength stat means that a player who has spent more time training it can hit higher than somebody who hasn’t. That’s why sailing really needs to be a skill for this design to make sense. The sailing stats means that a player who has spent more time training can use better boats, go to better resource islands and be better able to avoid dangers.

It would kind of make sense for dragon slayer to give a sailing exp reward. And maybe a few others - cabin fever, the pirate pete section of RFD, pirate's treasure spring to mind. They do all involve sailing to some extent.
Only thing is, for dragon slayer (+pirate's treasure) - they're F2P quests, so would that mean sailing would have to be a F2P skill? I wouldn't mind it. F2P does have a decent amount of sea. It'd be a vastly limited version, but I suppose a lot of F2P skills are like that.
Can we maybe atleast be able to talk to the guys who we ended the quest on so we can get the Sailing XP also even though we have done them quests? I find it unfair if some new player makes an account and saves Dragon Slayer and other quests needed for Sailing XP till the release date to get a huge headstart so they're having the fun while we train the first few levels

If that makes any sense.
Oh yeah of course, it would be unfair to deprive people who had already completed such quests of a sailing exp reward, if such a reward were to be added to them.

1: quests that can only be done with Sailing level requirements (meaning adding new quests maybe to Zeah).
2: due to water being blue I do think it should be simular to how Fishing capes colours are but maybe a different type of trim (thats just an idea due to it being water themed
3: can we get some cosmetics simular to how Hunter has larupia
I do think something like a parrot on your arm if you wear a cape or something would be awesome haha.
4: This might sound dumb but it's only a suggestion
maybe a way of making it so at a higher level you can fish with maybe a big fishing net to catch sharks but needing a fishing level to do so.. meaning it'll be like the kingdom and giving us a few sharks every few days ^^ I am just suggesting this so it can be related to fishing haha
u don't have to actually want these idea's or Jagex don't have to make them I am just seeing what you think of these idea's
.
Sailing has too much potential for new quests not to do anything with it. There's Kudos Island and Olaf's Quest which have both hinted at content but not come to anything, and would be perfect for sailing. Needn't stop there, of course, there's loads of potential for more.
I'm not overly fussed one way or another for the skillcape, however, if I were to make a vote it'd be for the cape that was displayed in the website header when summoning released. It was one of the biggest causes of sailing hype, so I think it'd be nice to pay homage to it.
Well, we've already got quite a lot of cosmetic stuff related to the seas. There's the pirate hats, stuff from Trouble Brewing (That game could do with a bit more activity!) and I'm sure a lot more. That being said, I'd love a parrot. Could be a new kind of pet!
Fishing has to get some sort of update from sailing. I'm not sure what Jagex's plans on that front are but I hope it'll be good.

Sailing has never been polled. Jagex is taking feedback to make it as good as it can. It will be polled once they feel they have a good enough version of it.
Please, have the slightest idea what the current situation is before going off on one about it...

That was the PDC for a skill last year, and no, forestry didn't win, artisan did. It then failed multiple polls and therefore didn't make it into the game. Sailing was neither part of the shortlist, or indeed, at all involved with that sequence of polls.
