@fooly thanks very much! I'm thrilled that you can now see the potential in sailing too. I agree, it might be overpowered (and probably not necessary now we have the rune pouch), but in any case, none of those ideas are too important. They're just thoughts out loud of the stuff sailing could potentially offer.

@angel thanks!

@John yep, all of those are possible.

Support :D We so need this to get noticed! :D I actually am excited about Sailing to be quite honest with you.

Thanks! I'll be tweeting it to all the mods and I've posted it on reddit, but if you can help share the word of how much potential sailing has I would greatly appreciate it!

To that guy in the earlier portion of this thread that said it would devalue Dragon Slayer, why not just make Dragon Slayer a requirement for the skill. That way you'd be able to reconstruct that ship, then (learn) per-say how to construct a basic ship, and thus the skill is born.

rather than make dragon slayer a requirement for the skill, I think many of the quest rewards for existing quests need to include sailing xp.

dragon slayer is only one example of places in quests where "sailing" is used to cross bodies of water.
there are so many quests that use sailing, its beyond reasonable that they should give a little sailing xp for completion.

the problem with this method is that some people have already finished those quests, and didn't get any sailing xp.

so how could those people get their much deserved xp back?

not only that, but how much sailing xp is too much for a quest reward?

It would kind of make sense for dragon slayer to give a sailing exp reward. And maybe a few others - cabin fever, the pirate pete section of RFD, pirate's treasure spring to mind. They do all involve sailing to some extent.

Only thing is, for dragon slayer (+pirate's treasure) - they're F2P quests, so would that mean sailing would have to be a F2P skill? I wouldn't mind it. F2P does have a decent amount of sea. It'd be a vastly limited version, but I suppose a lot of F2P skills are like that.
