how would sailing avoid monotony? to get to 99 you'd have to "explore" areas you've seen before literally 60 thousand times. also runescape mechanics don't lend well to vehicle control. controlling a ship sounds aggravating.
other skills may be repetitive but woodcutting for example doesn't promise NOT to be. a wc master is one who has collected a massive amount of logs. but sailing is about adventure but there seems to be no way to deliver new adventures all the way to 99 and beyond.
I agree. & Sailing sounds too boring.. that's like saying let's make a skill to walk around runescape except you're just on a boat "sailing". And i think 07 needs a completely new skill that has nothing to do with the other skills.

It comes across that you didn't read the thread, to be honest - which is odd since you did at least read one of the comments... anyways.
It's much more than just exploring, because exploring in this case isn't just walking from square to square, there's everything else that comes along with it - the dangers, the bossing, the PvP aspect. There's so much going on that it's certainly not boring.
Besides, hate to break it to you, but... we do have a skill for walking around runescape. Agility. What use is agility on its own? Sailing is like agility only it offers much, much more content.
And we have a skill that has something to do with other skills... ehh... pretty much all skills! Fishing has something to do with cooking, woodcutting with fletching/ firemaking, mining with smithing... agility with pretty much all skills. Sailing is a lot like agility; it's purpose is to ASSIST the other skills. We have that already with agility, why not too with sailing, especially when sailing offers so much potential?

exactly how is a 2 man programming team and one artist suppose to do all this in less than 10 years?
jagex couldn't do this when they had 300 programmers. how is osrs going to?
I don't know who lied to you. Probably Jagex being lazy again, but any team of coordinated programmers of MUCH LESS people could accomplish this in much less than 10 years. Tweak this a bit sure, but you have no idea what goes into game development. If Jagex is telling you they can't do it even with some changes, they're probably lying.
