Interesting stuff, there, Avid. I find it kind of weird the amount that oppose sailing for completely unrelated reasons... strange way to go about voting. But I suppose we have to deal with what we have.

The thing with artisan was that they didn't change how the pitched the core concept. They couldn't - there was nothing really to it other than "task system". As a result, they were pitching artisan wholly on the rewards.

That's where sailing is different. We can change pretty fundamental stuff. They still haven't fully explained the core concepts and how sailing can really offer something great. And most importantly, there's no need to be discussing the rewards at this stage.

I think that's one of the biggest mistakes. They went into too much detail about things that don't matter and not enough about things that do. I mean, do we really need to know about gem dragons? About a new necklace? About getting rigour and augury? There's somebody a bit back in this thread who said something like "No to sailing. I don't want rigour and augury". Jagex made it needlessly difficult by mentioning those things. They're such a tiny part of sailing that they don't even need to be brought up. It'd be like voting down an overwhelmingly beneficial international trade agreement because it would raise the price of freddos.

We need to know the types of new content we can get. There's so much sailing can offer that we've never seen the likes of before. If only they would sell it on that more people might get as excited about it as I am.

Today I talked to someone who voted no because it would ruin their pure's total, which was 1337... I just hope Jagex will repoll it.

XD I am always ranting how I hate the community gets a say in every single content released into game.

But I do agree it does need repolling, I find that if it has as much support and stuff put into it.. even though it's not 75% it's only a tiny bit off.. and it will help the game in the long run.. Players have actually got membership just to vote yes.. they'll probably go back to F2P if it doesn't pass. I saw a guy on this thread somewhere saying to San he only got membership to vote yes also :P .

I just wish Jagex didn't limit themselves, they could release some surprises.. give us some cool content without polling/telling us.. it's kinda what made the old runescape so amazing.. we loved the surprises.. and even if we did vote for alot of stuff it wouldn't of passed.. but the fact we had it we loved it!

:( I'm just disapointed to be honest with you :( .

I voted no on sailing, not because I am opposed to change or anything, but because I didn't like sailing as a skill. I think that sailing should be added to the game, but I personally think it works better as an update to construction - construction xp for making the boats, possible profits from selling / trading the boats, and then sailing as the activity that can be done with them.
I hope it is added into the game as either an activity or an update to another skill.
I also hope we can get a new skill added, hopefully by another player creation contest like the first, but hopefully they give us more options to choose from than last time.

I voted no because they had said they would never bring dungeoneering back. It was my favourite skill in the game and to see jagex trying to push sailing instead just got me mad.

I used to log on runescape just to play dungeoneering got to lvl 90 or so all in f2p. Made good friends helped others out with rooms they needed completing etc.

I don't see sailing doing the same which is why it was a no from me. Especially as they said that you will get more better xp soloing. It just makes sailing as a team pointless. Plus the talk about new items and weapons just put me off because it changes the way people play the game compared to how it was played in the past. You bring new weapons out it changes pking and combat training. You bring new items out to do with skilling it makes skilling easier to lvl up. I don't like the fact you lose your items if your ship crashes either. For me sailing will never be able to replace what dungeoneering gave. I play old school for nostalia but when you start adding a completely new skill it changes the dynamic of the game completely.

Why vote no to something just because it isn't something else? More than anything, I want the Great Orb Project, but I don't go voting down everything else simply because it isn't that.

As to your other points:
They didn't say you'd get better xp solo, just that you wouldn't need to be in a team to get the best exp rates. Plus, it's entirely possible that they would have still added multiplayer content just as bosses, pvp, and high level skilling.

They stated all best in slot rewards would be polled separately.

I believe they had not finalised what would happen when ships are lost.

Finally, again, hwy vote against sailing just because it isn't dungeoneering? Sailing has the potential to offer many of the things dungeoneering did, and they've confirmed we're definitely not getting dungeoneering, so wouldn't it be better for you to vote yes to sailing and get some of that content, rather than voting no and getting none?

I don't vote no to everything. In fact, most of my votes have been yes to things.
I'm allowed to not have liked the way sailing would have been introduced to the game. I was also allowed to vote no because of this.
They could have polled it to have it added in another way (not as a skill) if it failed to pass as a skill.
