I am appalled that Sailing is failing. Furthermore, at this stage I don't see that it is going to pass this poll as over 50k votes have been put in and the percent hasn't really changed from 68%. However, I still really believe that sailing would be a tremendous boon to the game. I don't understand why people are voting no BUT: I think we should first have a poll to determine wh people are voting no. EX.
(only votable on by people who voted no to sailing)
Why did you vote no to sailing?
a. Trololol
b i am ****** at the splashing/NMZ nerf
c. My account isn't maxed yet so I don't want the effort of having to train another skill
d. I want to preserve the Old-School experience even though this new skill is going to have no effect on anything else in the game
e. I want summoning, why are we having sailing?
f. I'm training Slayer right now, I don't feel ready for a new skill. Maybe in another year we should introduce it. I'm also too stupid to realize that Sailing will either be introduced now or never.
g. I don't feel that I have enough information

Once the J-mods know what moronic reasons people have for voting no, they could investigate if any changes should be made to the skill that would make people happier.

I actually do think we need to do a poll to see what people's concerns are.

I agree, but think we should determine why people don't like the design.

honestly, why did they nerf guthans/splashing right before a huge vote was about to go down? they should have waited just another week imo. i also dont feel this will be the last time we see sailing, as jagex seems to want to release this skill badly.

Yes, it's very confusing. But artisan had a lot of things they wanted to fix, while I think Sailing failing had nothing to do with things they were unhappy about with the skill, but with Jagex in general, as they did just nerf splashing and Guthan's. I hope they will reconsider, as 67% of the community WILL be sad that Sailing isn't coming into the game, and quite frankly, I'll be very sad. I've waited for this skill for the better part of 12 years.
