This post gave me a vision of a bigger concept of a player owned house,

but instead a Clan Castle, with self planted trees, and other gardening stuff
for clans to chill out at, wc together, fish together, construct a clan base together etc..

That already exists in RuneScape 3. I think that's the game for you.

Oddly dismissive and patronizing, ngl.
It's a fun idea that wouldn't be bad in OSRS, dude. Come on now.

I'd love to see a Clan Citadel in OSRS. My statement about RS3 being the game for him was target solely for him in regards to the other posts he has been making in OSRS suggestions complaining about various different things. Have a browse through and you'll see what I'm referring to

I totally agree with this concept, this is a super cool concept that other MMOs make great use of. It allows the clans to support one another in a really cool way. Another MMO I play, Elder Scrolls Online has this exact concept, and allows the Guild Owner or Admins to manage the chest settings such as who can deposit and withdraw. This also makes Clan dues easier to manage.

IMO, to do this right, you'd need to have some engine work.

It would be good to have some safety features in place to make sure it wasn't abused, and mitigate the chances of someone being "scammed" while at the same time accomplishing what I believe to be the goal of the thread.

What I mean by that is to implement some additional features to it, rather than just a deposit/withdraw system.

For example, let the leader/admins set a threshold value on items in the chest that can be withdrawn without a 'lend' type of feature (severely limiting their use, and making sure they go back to the original owners, period). This threshold value would also have a delay (similar to bank pin changes) if it were to be adjusted up, and would send a message upon login to all members, if there was a pending upward adjustment. This would be to help prevent the scamming aspect.

For example, if this value were set to 1m, anything with a GE value over 1m, when withdrawn, would become a lent item, and would go back into the chest upon loss/logging out/actually depositing it. The original owner could also claim it back at any time. If the item was under 1m in value, it would be able to be withdrawn as normal. If this value were changed to 500k, it would go through immediately, and now anything 500k+ would be affected. However, if someone tried to change it to 20m, there'd be a wait on the change, allowing people who placed items in there between 1m and 20m an opportunity to withdraw them to prevent themselves from being scammed.

Furthermore, there should be a net value tally on people's activity on items below the threshold value, to identify potential problems. For example:

4ev +4,312,217 gp (I deposited a bunch of prayer pots, and never withdrew anything)
Perpl -1,216,853 gp (they deposited some cute outfits of minimal value, but took a bunch of my prayer pots out)

What this would do is allow all members of the clan see who is contributing, and who is 'leeching' essentially.

You could also have a feature to place lower limits on that net +/- based on rank.

For example, the leader/admins could set these values, and once again, there'd be a waiting period on upward adjustments to those limits.

Just an example below:

Unranked - 50k
Recruit - 250k
Corporal - 500k
Sergeant - 500k
Lieutenant - 1m
Captain - 1m
General - 5m
Owner/Admin - 5m

Then say that someone tried changing the owner/admin group to no limit. there'd be a waiting period in which a different owner/admin could cancel that change and other members of the clan could withdraw all their items. This would prevent someone with power from essentially wiping their clan.

It would be really sad to see hackers coming in and wiping clans for everything they are worth if no safety features were implemented alongside something like this. Leaders could also claim to have been hacked etc. and there'd be some really murky situations we could get into, that would just be better off being prevented with appropriate measures.

I've always wanted a more communal, shared aspect to Runescape. Sure, you can always boss or pk together, but what if you're drastically different levels from each other?

Huh.. Might you like my idea?
