Seems like they're taking the new skill serious, good to see. Would love to see a new skill before 2024, just in time for the 10 year anniversary
good, just in time when all my friends quit over all the collective nonsense updates that had nothing to do with osrs and actually eroded the true value of the product.
dead game lmao; next

I am pretty sure there will be something they called a "skill" before 2024. However, the 10 year anniversary is already past us - It happened 4 days ago, and nobody even talked about it, not even Mod Pips.

Don't worry! Mod Pips has already out in the media selling their next big deeply community driven game with the players making decisions of content they want to see just like OSRS - SCUM.
The game is already osrs in its name only lol. You are basically playing upgraded version of osrs, you people have no argument otherwise you would of quit lol. You ARE playing runescape now, it's not longer pure osrs, and while you are playing, you are using that skill should not be passed because it's not osrs, but yet you probably are using new content as you type this.
all your friends LOL. I'm sure there can't be that many stupid and small minded people who use new content in osrs then try to bring up an arguement for no new skill saying it's not osrs.
The amount of people shouting "the end is neigh!" for this game because they lost a vote by a more significant margin than most polls which have 0 controversy what-so-ever...
By all means, claim the game will die. Claim you'll quit. I'll see you all on here a month after the skill release complaining about it then. If you don't like the new skill, don't train it. I have no idea how the skill symbol in your interface can cause so much pain for a human being. Maybe one of you can make a Runelite plugin that just removes its skill icon from the skill tab so you can continue to live in the time period you're so attached to.
P.S. The time period OSRS is based on was a time when the game was seeing 1 to 2 new skills per year. To have gone 10 years without another is entirely counter to the time period players were nostalgic for.

Its not OSRS anymore they should change the name too.
OSRS would survive better as an nostalgi.
Ruinscape2023.
Obviously you weren't around for OSRS launch. That time in it's past when the game was so stagnant, stale, and in desperate need of new constant, that the player hemorrhage was so severe, that the game was on track to be dead within a year. The game, quite literally, couldn't survive off of just nostalgia; They tried that already...
Now with added
Polling the new skill is fine, but letting a very small group of players deciding what content to poll is definitely not fine, and not even democratic.
Even the very few video games that use this kind of small group of player dictated consultancy polling, the players in that small consultancy group are all nominated and voted in by all the players. For example, CSM in EVE Online.

I support the part about voting. I don't think 30% is a reasonable number when talking about 'the community having a voice'. I believe that the ideal would be to increase this number to at least 60%. If the vast majority decide that they would like to have a new skill then I think it's fair to continue with the progress.
I've been playing since Feb 2002. Yall are some of the most selfish players I've ever seen in a mmorpg. The game is dying and without a new skill to bring back players and an influx of new ones all that will be left would be bots. For all 30 of you that quit the new skill will bring 10x as many players so off you go to a private server and good riddance; the game doesn't need maxed PVMers trying to stagnant it any longer so they can keep farming bosses and RMTing. You'll have to work on your new skill and won't be able to bank stand to 99. Once again the max PVMers are fine with new BIS items, new BIS bosses/raids, and new end-game-focused content and will spite vote for anything that isn't to their play style.
LET THIS SINK IN: We have long since passed anything reminiscent of 2007scape when people voted for GE, and allowed Dragonclaws(max pvmers weren't up in arms for that) and the various other BIS gear added.
TLDR: The only people arguing against a new skill are Max-level PVMers who are relatively new to Runescape and are an extremely selfish player base who spite vote anything that isn't content for them.
