I think a new skill in OSRS is being worked on at this point, still no guarantee a new skill is finally getting released, or when. They will still have to go through plenty of "refinements" and polls.

Sometimes its best for them not to listen to the vocal majority.

We have no clues regarding OSRS's financial status. Perhaps they can't afford to lose even a small number of players by not going through the polls. But otherwise, I think they should make updates based on their own decisions, for better or worse, like every game else in the industry.

Last Sailing blog was released almost a month ago. There has also been no livestream on that topic for almost as long.

According to the new skill Refinement Cadence, we should be seeing refinement progress blogs every week or two. So what happened? I think the new skill "refinements" are still going on, but are they need to refine the refined refinements a few more times than expected now?

Interesting news on the cancellation of Runious Powers as the OSRS team pulled the plug on their own and the community didn't vote "no" to it. The more interesting thought is that can happen to any OSRS content too, including Sailing. Polling is becoming a real joke in OSRS.

I do think updates are good to keep the game alive.

Look at Runescape classic for example.
Classic did not got any update or support and sadly it died :(

I did vote yes because I did look at things like zeah and was thinking they really did a great job with those things!

Who knows maybe it turns out bad, but at least we can try it right?

I think OSRS still wants to update OSRS, if they can technically although there is no guarantee their 2007 technologies and spaghetti codes allow them to.

The ominous cloud overhanging, technologies aside, is their definition of powercreep. Everything can be considered powercreep. For instance, if we lock a mob or minigame that gives just slightly better reward than a whip or a cape, those naysayers can say this is powercreep and point to Runious Power and kill the new skill even over 70% of the players voted for it, and Sailing don't even have a 70% approval rating. Only less than 40% of players voted for it to go on the refinement process.
