New skill is coming whether you like it or not

me and a bunch of high level friends are quitting due to this, whether you like it or not. Each with a bunch of alts, so expect at least 10 less people online, whether you like it or not.

Jagex is a failed company, their viewership numbers are at lowest after all these 'brilliant' rs3-like updates, whether you like it or not. Game is failing, theres tons of bots nowadays, real players are going down, whether you like it or not.

Viewership numbers don't translate to any positive tangible financial results unfortunately. OSRS viewership numbers have been higher than many AAA games the past 2 years but their in game engagements and out of the game payments have been declining to near the very bottom of all MMORPG.

OSRS is desperately seeking new ways to survive, they need radical changes and not "huge" numbers of viewers to see them die. I don't know a new skill is such change they need though, and TBH I was the one to make the call, I wouldn't add a skill but the other changes I would make would also be objectionable to plenty of oldschool players too.

So well over a month has passed since the "poll" and we have yet another new QoL polls up today.

What happened to the OSRS "new skill"? Aren't we supposed to be in the "Community Consultation" stage now as Mod Ayiza advertised over a month ago?

Seems like a bit behind already. Any news?

Better start quitting then. Jagex and some of us players do not care whether you stay or quit. We care about QOL. Gains. And if it means to attract new players, that is the risk one is willing to take.

They finally did a stream on the Community Consultation. As expected, they showed nothing other than coming out of nowhere they set up a new Discord and added a very very small team who will interact with the developers directly.

Essentially, this very very small team of elitists are going to dictate what is going to be the new skill, if it is not already predetermined as I expected. ;)

They didn't show us any voting data on the skills, but this is probably meaningless anyway. ;)

Exactly, we have the illusion of choice with polls when players connected to jagex will influence them and force in updates that benefit mostly them, such as the new skill. I expect the new skill to cost 200m like I said in the OP, which is far too expensive. This is construction tier cost and another way jagex wants osrs bonds to rise. Most of us don't have the benefit of a personal fandom that will pay for your new skill expenses so you can get back to doing content and profiting. It sounds great if you're a content creator, but from my perspective it sounds like a nightmare no matter what type of skill they're adding especially for pvp on release.

And in return we will get 10x the veteran players that burned on on the same content or 10x the new players entering the game. 07scape always reeked of entitlement as long as the PVM RMT crowd got their new best money-making BIS gear. As a player from feb of 2002, id rather have new player enter the game then spiteful idiots that spite vote against anything that doesn't pertain to what they want(typically its PVM max accounts).

To further illiterate my point if this game didn't change at all since 2013 there would only be a handful of purist players left, but hey you guys were fine with GE, Claws, and everything else being added.

A thought would be to add 2007scape worlds I suppose where modern content isn't on that world or usable. So the players that want to revisit their childhood can keep wearing bandos with godswords as BIS.

Why should new players enter OSRS when they are essentially getting more grinding than ever, and only be doormats of the very, very few, bourgeois who have the exclusive rights to talk to the developers?

Care to tell us why we didn't see 10x new players entering OSRS because of all those similar game modes like GIM, OSRS FSW, with new Hiscores and exclusive rights for selected veteran players?

Thank god 80% of players had the sense to vote yes. The people that want an update free game are delusional, without updates this game wouldn't have made it to 2015, nevermind 2023.

Heh i remember playing rs3 between 2013-2017. I remember all these idiots claiming that EOC was such a woof woof needed feature, so good. I remember them claiming osrs itself was a failed project

I remember also logging in, in 2021, just to see all my 'rs3' friends crying a river seeing osrs taking over them, while their own game (rs3 i mean) is failing hard.

Now we're in the same direction rs3 is going. Its gonna be a failed project with out-of-baseline updates.

But hey, keep changing for the sake of changing. I wish i could play old osrs, theres some RSPS to do that but they're changed for their own flavour.

You're wrong saying game would die without updates, just like the rs3 crows was wrong on longetivty of osrs itself. I would suggest to drop your bias. Game is losing players drastically at this point, barrier of entry is at all time high (10b for bis pvm gear, thats like 50k euro? was like 5k back then... so don't tell me that change is good)

These updates are 'me need money' updates, they're not for your entetrainment. But keep buying mighty jamflex lies and deceit, all they care is $$$ in terms of bonds sales and mem sales

Delusional
