I do think it's fine as long as it stays cosmetic now that they've added the ability to examine people and tell whether what they're wearing is some epic, earned new armor or just some override. That was an important change, and now I'm OK with them.

The problem of course is that solomon's is increasingly NOT cosmetic, selling blatant in-game advantages like citadel boosters. (As well as, for the longest time because they wanted to milk the bug for all its worth, invincible familiars)

I will say though that intrusive overrides are a pain. Things like rest animations that take up massive 3x3 tiles, teleport animations that cause epiliptic fits with their sheer particle explosions, and FREAKING MASSIVE FLYING LAGBEASTS, AKA SHADOW DRAKES. Could you imagine if every player had a shadow drake and some giant shadow drake mount? You wouldn't even be able to see anything! That's why I'm against mounts.
Headcanon Haven, where everything is made up and the points don't matter.

Im for cosmetics, because to be honest, I dont even care/look at what people are wearing. Im pretty sure most people are like that nowadays. Im just concerned with the ingame advantages that have been creeping up.

Wow, its been like 2 years and you're still going at this thread.

Remember all the bots, the gold farmers and the gold websites? see how that has gone away ? jagex had to do this. they posted a big story in the news section explaining why this helps everyone.

Perhaps you could check it out.

[edit; wow 3.5 years.. points for effort! and you're lucky a F-mod hasn't closed this in so many years without any new content]

I was still in school when I wrote this thread almost 4 years ago, lol. I've long since quit playing RS or caring about Jagex or what they do. I will continue to bump this thread though because it still provides a place for discussion on the issues that Solomon's presented when it first came out.

I still believe that the introduction of in-game items for real world currency was against the founding principles of this game and the people that founded it, but it's obvious that this is no longer the same game and it is no longer run by the same company.

Most of the people who have had qualms with these things have either quit or learned to live with it, so the same amount of frustration as there first was 4 years ago is no longer there, but I feel like I still presented some valid criticisms somewhere in the jumble of thoughts in the OP.

Bump
