so how do you contact the devs to make them accountable and answer for their utter stupidity and lack of understanding the current mmo market or how monthly models work sucessfully.

my bad the drop was during 2015 though still in 2016 they got rid of 21 developers with still a net loss in employees in 2016 as they did hire a few more customer relations employees

Edit: either way my original point still stands about the actual likely reason jagex is hiking priced along with the point that #of employees is irrelevant to my main point.

also i still dont get why u keep claiming theres going to be a “25% employee increase”

jagex has not stated that to my knowledge in either this thread or the FAQ

As I posted on your "RuneScape monetization" topic back in October of 2017. How many failed and abandoned games are the community of this game bearing the brunt of?

DarkScape. Chronicle: RuneScape Legends (which showed promise, but appears all but dead), RuneScape: Idle Adventures, Ace of Spades, and now we're looking at RuneScape Mobile, which didn't hit it's planned release. If you're going to commit to something, do it. I hope that Mobile is a success -despite that I have zero desire to play RuneScape in a mobile fashion- that it brings in new or returning players, but in all hones

you forgot all the others from stellar dawn to transformers universe, hell i think jagex has had 10 to 11 failed games/projects at this point, most of which were developed to at least Beta

Has only noticed there are only 80k players online at time of posting this. 53k osrs 27k rs3. Normally it's 58k osrs 30k rs3 at this time.

I still remember yesteryear when osrs wasn't around, the players online for RS (today's RS3) can easily surpass 100k. Anyone who says RS3 isn't nearing its end is still living in delusion as the numbers speak for themselves.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As time goes on, I expect more RS3 players to either :

1. Move to osrs, following the trend in recent years (which is increasingly unlikely, affected by price hike as well)
2. Leave the game completely and look for other entertainment (numbers over the years suggests that)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, a hike in price will obviously deter new entrants/players, as well as deter returning players from playing again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ones 'left behind in RS3' and wish to continue playing will be those who have existing membership and want to continue membership to avoid the price hike including:

1. Those with huge in-game wealth to pay for membership for many years/eternity.
2. All sorts of membership type including grandfathered/gold/silver/normal etc

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sad fact is that even from the above group who can be considered to be the 'loyal' ones, the 'left behind' pool may also dwindle. They may start to seriously re-evaluate whether the game is worth the time and money from this point onwards. Or is time and money better expanded elsewhere? Does it make sense to pay higher for less, with undelivered promises as the central theme while mtx stuff bloats up the front page? Any reasonable person can answer that.

If I remember rightly, Stellar Dawn was cancelled because of the entire team working on it moving on from Jagex. It's been so many years that I've forgotten about it, thought I thought I remember reading that.

Transformers was cancelled as a result of Activision as well, was it not? One would assume that commission was paid for the work that was done there.

@Joetheloser....

Hope RS3 doesnt die because if it does then OSRS will surely get mtx. Now 2 ways around that.

Do you think for one minute they will let that much money just go without doing to OSRS what they have done to RS3?

If they want to raise the price to 15 dollars ok i can even live with that if all the Mtx and
bullshit promos leave and we have real updates. I like the Fayre but where was Easter Event?

I like beach but its a yearly event now not really an update.

I love novtumberfest and i suspect we will see it again but thats not really an update. Adding a few new cosmetics im sure does not take hundreds of thousands of dollars to do.

I for one Do Not Want Runescape 3 or even OSRS to die. But if RS3 goes i gaurantee you that OSRS will look like RS3 in no time.. maybe not eoc, but you bet that bottom dollar all the cosmetics and treasure hunter promos will just be readjusted to fit the OSRS game.
The richest person is not who has the most. It is who Needs the least.

I find it pretty ridiculous that you're charging people almost as much as World of Warcraft when they offer a more detailed game in most ways. This game would be worth the price if over half the content wasn't DEAD....

I find it funny that ppl still buy gold premier for a game they say half the content is "dead".

There you go again making statement's not pertaining to the subject.

I don't know about that. I would dispute different points.

Buying gold premier involves paying for a year's membership in advance, but it doesn't involve paying extra; instead, it's a bargain, where you get extra stuff and a discount.

But "dead content" really isn't a big issue. The game has a lot of content; much of that content relates to a particular experience level. So mining mithril becomes "dead" when you can mine adamant. Quests get done once.

Keeping content from becoming "dead" can easily mean forcing players to do the same thing over and over, and that isn't making the game more fun. The positive goal that reducing dead content is aimed at is giving players more choices of things to do at any given skill level; making the same content relevant at multiple skill levels is one way to do that, but it isn't the only way.

Looks like June 4th is when I quit. You guys don't put enough effort into this game to charge over $10 a month. Sure, maybe with the upcoming updates things might get better. But for the most part updates are often a big let down, maybe show some initiative bringing good content to the game on time and people would be more receptive. You've been delaying the bank rework and others because of RS Mobile, when the unfortunate reality is that mobile won't be as successful as some are hoping. You can't sit there and pretend like this price increase is justified when just last year you beat your previous years earnings by £15 million.
