The caps aren't that horrid, the price is a bit much but you don't HAVE to buy one. What irks me the most is that it's a popularity contest. As with the god wars, I am disappointed to find out that a company with so many resources at it's fingertips, is reducing itself to an ego boosting competition. I can understand if this type of reward was offered a decade ago, seeing as Jagex had a more limited staff and tools to play around with, but today the company is known world wide, has it's own convention, offices, employees, etc.
My concern is that those dedicated players who spend their days or nights (or both) playing avidly, supporting their faction, will be overshadowed by the few players with the real world wealth to boost their favorite gods numbers by stacking the orders in their favor. What is most disappointing is that I'm not even SLIGHTLY motivated to order prior to the 10th, seeing as some other faction's item will be crammed down my throat because they were more popular than my faction. Why do I need some boo boo in my inventory that i'll never use because 1000 more people were aligned to another faction, or some other equally annoying reason.
My conclusion, the hats are cool, the price could be better, but the in game reward is totally pointless. Yes the majority will be happy because their faction won, but the minority is being ****** on, and that is not how you keep players playing. Never force someone to do something they don't want to, and never play the popularity card. I would highly suggest you get the creative design team together and quickly sketch out possible in game REWARDS for all the factions if you want to retain any sort of respect from the people willingly paying WAY too much for a $10 logo on a *5 hat.
