Since the eventual in-game cosmetic item is not an "
all new pre-paid card promotional in-game item
", only those that buy a hat can get that item. If they were similar to the FlexFit hats from J!NX then I would understand $35 each. Just to compare prices, these are as expensive as buying the official NBA snapback hats for the OKC Thunder.
Snapback hats have never worked well for me and due to the potential outcome over the next few years, those snaps are likely to become very brittle and actually snap off. I could see myself getting the Zaros or Bandos caps. However I'll wait a bit before considering this further.
Sure, you could break down the price between whatever you might value the in-game cosmetic to be, but since you have no guarantee that it will be whatever you purchased makes it odd. I like stitched hats as they last longer. In the end though, I'd like one of the hats considering it's actually a reasonable price all things taken into account.
I wouldn't mind though if the in-game item was a baseball cap.
