All for this. I say a good portion of the names that haven't logged in for 6 months have been absent far longer. Why not keep people who are paying (members) happy by letting them take inactive names from people who aren't giving Jagex any money? I'd be willing to bet an overwhelming majority of the freed names won't even return to RuneScape anyways.

It'd be nice for Jagex to release some numbers on it. Average time it has been since an absent player logged in, how often, etc.

A better way to try and make some money would be to simply make ALL name changes require a bond. But don't do this name-stealing crap, PLEASE FOR THE SAKE OF THE FUTURE OF THE GAME. WE NEED TO RETAIN ANY RETURNING MEMBERS THAT WE CAN

6 months time is pretty low, i know friends who play only every year during vacations
1 week notice is very short aswell, u cant expect people who havent logged in in ages to log in 1 weeks time
Yes because having a name on an account which only logs on/plays a couple times every year is very fair, isn't it? And active accounts shouldn't be able to get it... Riiiiiight....

Firstly no, i'm not mad that I havent sniped a cool name because I never tried to "snipe" one

And like RSB David said... How would you like it if someone had an awesome name since like 2004 and only logged on every 6 months just so nobody else could have the name? And they didn't even play?

That is a seriously stupid comment. How do they deserve respect for making it so nobody else can have their name? Even though they don't even play the game, they're just being selfish

And it's not "taking" someones name, it's getting a name that's inactive. Think before you speak

I love the idea of the name changes but what i don't like are name hoarders i know of someone with at least 10 "rare" names and he doesn't even play he has them because... well because he can, is there anything you're going to do to prevent name hoarding/bots, Etc?

I heard new accounts/f2p people wont be able to take any of the names which are going to be released, so bots can't make new alt accounts to hoard the name

Ugh, damnit... Good update, this had me excited, but that inactive player I've never seen online who has my name without any numbers on the end apparently still has not lost his name. I hope he hasn't logged in behind my back, because if he has, I'll probably never end up getting it. :P

They haven't freed up any names yet, it'll happen in a week I think
