PERFECT UPDATE.
Finally something simple that cannot be beaten. JAG was simply a smokescreen that skilled hackers could easily beat. All they had to do was get a keylogger on your computer (like always) then set a ghost IP to trick JAG. This happened to a lot of players, including myself as I personally got hacked for the first time ever through full JAG "protection" while I was in South America a few months ago. It was nothing but a false sense of security and Jagex knows this, which is why it's going away.
In contrast, Authenticator is unbeatable and extremely easy to use. Setup took about a minute or two, and putting in the code every time you log in takes maybe an extra 5 seconds (no exaggeration). For the first time ever I feel like my account is actually safe, even if my ******** and registered email were to be compromised. However, I'm not sure why there is even an option to have it remember your login for 30 days; this totally defeats the purpose of the entire thing.
