If it's truly the highscores that you wish to renew an interest in, we don't need a prestige system. Just have monthly highscores for most xp gained in each individual skill, as well as one for total xp. Award the titles, emotes, and whatever else you had planned for prestige to the monthly winners.

Problem solved you're welcome. (Yes, it really is this simple .)

Wouldn't it be better to fix the dead mini-games, content that people in all levels can enjoy? After all I do believe that most people that play rs rather have something to enjoy while they are online e.g. a good mini-game, sw, fog**** etc etc could really use an update. You can only train a repetitive skill for so long until you get bored and want to do something else.

High level players chosen to visit Jagex HQ earlier this year, despite having signed a NDA, have been able to disclose certain details of their visit. The only two relevant bits of information are as follows: Prestige was mentioned and discussed briefly, and all minigames will come under great scrutiny at some point in 2014 (possibly sooner). Jagex expressed that they would rather remove certain minigames, namely Mobilising Armies and Trouble Brewing, and replace them with new minigames due to the sheer amount of work that making them more appealing would require and the fact that a new minigame would likely be better anyway. Sadly, this can't come soon enough for those who find themselves unable to start Nomad's Requiem due to the fact that it requires player to have completed a game of Soul Wars to start.

My last post was kind of a mess of thoughts vomited into the text field so allow me to clarify my point;

If prestige fails to achieve 75% approval, do not consider 120 skills as an option . I'm not sure why so many people think this would be a solution. It wouldn't be. 100m+ xp to max each skill is so ridiculous that I would stop playing on principal - my health and my personal life would not be able to accommodate such outrageous grindage.

I can imagine how many other current players would feel the same, much less anyone just starting to play for the first time. Don't overwhelm your players with impossible goals. Just don't do it.

I don't think we'd implement 120 skills without a poll of its own. There's internal disagreement over whether "most players want it" or "most players don't want it" which is exactly the sort of thing a poll is useful for.

That's already in development as a separate project. It was what the live "Seasonal High Scores" were supposed to be, but there were severe technical problems with doing it with skills. To my knowledge, those technical problems have now been resolved.

another flaw in this so far, Jagex determined to get 75% yes votes, so wont put an end date to the vote

An end date is listed on the results screen.
