Wow. This kind of blew me away. Communication between Jagex and its players are vital to the game's health. I'm very happy that you plan on communicating more effectively with the players. Microtransactions have been an elephant in the room for some time now, and I think players will respect Jagex's honesty about them, although I think there could have been some discussion about how it influences the game (having it play a role in 2012 christmas event was very disappointing and saddening to many).
It is great that you plan on increasing communication, but please keep in mind that core game mechanics (armour *tats/enemy weaknesses) are just as important -- if not more so -- than new updates such as quests or diaries.
I love Runescape but I've come to lose my respect for Jagex. This post is pushing me back in the right direction. Also, please reconsider the standing of Runescape Classic. The demands of the Classic community are minimal: We understand you won't use resources to deter bots from RSC, and of course will not add any updates to it. But a simple hiscores (which was promised when RS2 beta came out) or a promise that RSC is not getting dumped to save server costs would give all Classic players the peace of mind that our efforts in RSC are not wasted. Moreover, hundreds of players have wanting to play RSC who were not on for the reopening. Let them. Many players want to play the game but can't. For the sake of Runescape's growth, why not add RSC access as a buyable option, either in the solomon's store or with JCoins. Shutting the doors entirely makes it seem like Jagex is trying to kill off RSC to save server costs.
Regardless, I actually enjoyed this post a lot more than I thought I would. I'm looking forward to Runescape 2013 and beyond.
