Your topic seems encouraging but I think as other disillusioned players have put it; actions will speak louder than words.
Having been an unbroken paying member from 2008-2012, I watched my 7 year old PvP clan die due to EoC, micro transations take a way to greater role in gameplay, botting and gold farming going unchecked, and gambling and RWTing facilicating a market for the gold farming bots - which could be easily stamped out by Jagex with a few swift updates (and no, gambling "it's part of the game", it is the root of a number of your problems and players frustrations).
Even gamblers and hosts will call Jagex hypocrits for your stance on micro-transactions, and use that as a basis to defend what they are doing to your game. Don't allow them.
Moving on, after I quit my main disappointment with the game was a complete lack of recognition of community feedback on updates and new content. No one is going to 100% like EVERY update you release, but ignoring and worse playing down players concerns is a slap in the face of paying vets of the game, and as new people join the community they also see this.
I really hope Jagex can come out with a monthly update just like this, and keep outlining where you are up to in regards to each major issue raised by the wider player base. I think if you were able to do this, and implement changes and show your engauging your playerbase, people will be much more responsive to these announcements.
I may even re-subscribe to members, like others would if you show more community engaugement. Your topic is a step in teh right direction, I hope 2013 has many of them.
