There are no abilities and adrenaline in legacy mode. You can't pretend there are and put lipsticks on a pig and expect everybody else to think it is human.

If you want to have abilities in OSRS combat, create one with solid foundations and remove legacy mode if you like, and then you can work on building the new combat system with perks among other things... but wait... this is exactly most OSRS players don't want. Don't they hate EOC because it is not the simple nothingburger legacy mode?

I literally never once said there are abilities or adrenaline in Legacy mode... I'm genuinely concerned I'm no longer having a discussion with a human, and am instead stuck in a debate with a poorly trained internet chat A.I. I said you could change the perks that revolve around abilities/adren, to work in a system that uses neither, such as:

Bulwark: Incoming attacks have reduced maximum hit while wielding a shield.
Taunting: Enemies are aggressive for twice as long.
Planted Feet: Bonus to accuracy the longer you stand still.
Ultimatums: Special attacks use 10% less special energy.

See how I took perks that revolve around abilities/adrenaline, and made them not involve abilities or adrenaline? Your entire argument is perks can't work in the legacy system, yet 58 of the 75 existing perks already fully function in legacy mode. And many of the others can be reworked to function in legacy's special economy instead of adrenaline. Your argument makes no sense, because the game of Runescape 3 already proves it wrong.

Like seriously mate, I'm genuinely concerned for you right now if this is a difficult concept to grasp.

And man, that ending comment tells me you've literally never logged into OSRS. A lot of the fan favorite gear has unique passive perks and effects. You're out here claiming a 7.5% damage boost from Precise would break the game when stuff like the Scythe and Shadow exist XD

You're angry that the Devs aren't telling you every single specific detail of a skill that is currently in Early Concept Development... I wonder if you get mad at restaurants when your waiter tells you that you can't taste your food before it's been made... Such absolutely absurd expectations;

That analogy doesn't work....at all.

When you go to a restaurant and order food, they tell you exactely what you're going to be eating, what it's served with and any extra things you can do to modify your meal.

With this new skill they're telling people the names for the potential new skill and then saying "pick which one of these you want in the game!"

A better analogy would be like going to a restaurant and they say "You can pick between chicken, beef and fish for dinner."
Then when you pick chicken, it comes out as a pasta with chicken in it, but you actually wanted something like a schnitzel instead.

I get that they're being vague to avoid spending too much time developing something that will never get used, but you can't expect people to vote on a new skill when you aren't even telling them what's going to be in it!

No, they're being vague because they literally don't know what it is. They're asking the players to pick the activities, methods, and rewards. All they're providing is a name and a theme to build off of.

But you're correct, my analogy is wrong. Because Jagex hasn't even asked us what we want yet, and yet he's already demanding to know what it is. So it's more like walking into a restaurant and telling the waiter you know what food you want, but you want to taste it first before you tell them what it is. Jagex doesn't know the details he wants, because players haven't chosen them. Your waiter doesn't know what food you want to try, because you haven't asked for it yet. And yet he demands details that Jagex literally can't have yet.

I knew I recognized your name somewhere. You're legit the guy who thinks auto-alching machines don't add gold to the game, and who thinks Disassembling items is a gold sink. Must have been rough when Jagex released data the the vast, vast, vast majority of gold entering the game was from auto-alchers.

Given you have a history of ignoring reality for your own pleasure, I'm gonna call it here. It's clear you are neither interested, nor capable to understanding how features can be translated between systems. It's not like it even matters, you don't play the game so you won't even be voting on it, so you have no influence over the outcome regardless.

The only thing I don't understand is what possesses such a diehard RS3 purist to venture into the OSRS forums just to complain about OSRS content... Have you really nothing better to do on RS3? I'm working on finishing my Rev pet; I'm sure there's some other better use of your time that isn't sitting in the forums complaining about a version of the game that appears to be more popular than the one you play. Thank god I can sit back and enjoy both gamers without being an elitist for either...

Good day sir; I genuinely hope you find joy in this game once more, because no one who loves their game speaks this way of it. Those of us who love Runescape want to see both version thrive.

Thankfully we have more information on the proposal of the 3 new skills from four (4) OSRS Jmods yesterday:

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1778103861

Clearly, they have very little information regarding Shamanism.

Basically, they told us they have the idea of mobs dropping hell hound claws and such, that we can turn into something hopefully useful. Well, we already have these things like Kraken Tenacle which we use to augment a whip to improve its quality, and yet without a new skill out of it.

They also gave us a little piece of their minds on their appreciations of RS3's Invention skill in strengthening the latter's economy. So they may be looking into getting OSRS playes to hopefully voluntarily dissembling items to create better items. Again, they said it is just an idea at its earliest stages. They don't know what items to break down and what items they can improve, and they aren't sure if OSRS will think it worthwhile.

Well, this is a major point. Shamanism is described as a non-buyable skill which players grind and gather items, unlike Invention in RS3 where players buy their materials and forfeit gp and alchable. Essentially, Shamanism has very limited potential to drain gp or generic items out of the bloated OSRS economy. A primary gathering and grindy skill isn't remotely Invention in RS3 and doesn't serve the purpose to sink gp and items of Invention in RS3.

Rest assured they can augment items like adding a forthmentioned Hell Hound Claw to another item, similar to augmenting a whip with a Kraken Tenacle, however that's pretty much about it. Thankfully, they don't seem to be interested in RS3-ish perks that require different combat mechanics. Imagine how bad and useless mimic "planted feet" perk like "Bonus to accuracy the longer you stand still." would be... well, we know moving around is one of the 2 core mechanics of the extremely simple OSRS legacy combat... with the other mechanics being prayer flicking.

Reminder of this thread's topic:
Iron Karsa said :
I love all the new content dont get me wrong. But when we start talking about new skills.. Well thats just not osrs.. I play OS for a laid back nostalgia feel. But im noticing patterns from 10 years ago, patterns that lead me to believe that rs3.2 is comming. Osrs is a beautiful thing please dont ruin it.

However, as that opening statement is rather broad, it qualifies as "non-constructive" feedback and therefore the thread has been moved to the more relevant Forum for that.
