I love all the new content dont get me wrong. But when we start talking about new skills.. Well thats just not osrs.. I play OS for a laid back nostalgia feel. But im noticing patterns from 10 years ago, patterns that lead me to believe that rs3.2 is comming. Osrs is a beautiful thing please dont ruin it. Im always kind, n I love the grind

Yepppp...bringing back the curse prayer book is already one red flag for me and they way they are forcing everyone towards having a new skill in the game is another one.

The biggest worry is that they're almost certainly going to force in large amounts of content from the unused warding skill to reduce development cost/time.

OSRS has no technologies and IP to be RS3 2. They may mimic RS3 and other modern MMOs by adding spells like healing ones or new ancient prayers, but they don't have the skill or ablility based EOC system to make them work. They also don't have all the 15 year long episodic stories and lore based content in RS3 and other major and most successful MMORPG. They also don't have the financial means and time to move the Needle anyway.

They will have a new skill, but in reality it is more like a new skill mode similar to the other game modes like GIM where a very, very small group is benefited by selling leeches and account services, etc. I doubt there will be any big changes to the old school game features, except of course, they will have to wipe the Hiscores clean otherwise nobody will buy leeches and account services.

Adding a new skill does not ruin OS. That is how the game was back then, we got new skills. OSRS was never meant to be a "beat and forget" game. Its suppose to grow and evolve. It used to be that players could play the way they want and no one got punished for not playing the way the jmod demanded. There were always a group of people that demanded everyone be pkers like them. There was even a poll out in 2007 that showed that the largest majority played the game just for the skills, while another group played the game primarily for quest. Another poll showed that only about 5% of the players spent any real time in the wild. A third poll showed that less than 25% of the players had killed (castle wars, fight pit, dueling arena or pking) more than 25 players in their entire game history.

YET this 5% demanded that the game be centered around them.

Over the course of the last 15 years, jagex has driven away a lot of the players that called themselves skillers, both in rs3 and now osrs. BUT we are still the majority. Why should jagex destroy the game for the majority just to satisfy the ones that refuse to play the entire game?

Four legs good, two legs better. It is inevitable every living thing has to look up to better ways to survive. It is also inevitable for OSRS to look up to RS3 content when they are in desperate times.

However, we know the story with Animal Farm, right? Although two-legged pigs are better, they never become two-legged humans because the two different species have very different DNAs. RS3 has been learning to walk like the better MMORPGs for 10 years but RS3 has never become WoW 2 because they don't have the better genes of WoW (e.g. EoC). Likewise, OSRS will never become RS3 because it doesn't have vast majority of the good genes of RS3.

Nonetheless, OSRS will still try to mimic RS3 because their 22 year old brother is still the better two-legged animal. We are going to see plenty of copy-paste concept, if not content, of RS3 in OSRS's new skill mode.

For RS3 haters, fear not though, because the good news is "new" skill or not, OSRS will never be your most hated RS3. However, the bad news is OSRS is not going to bring any new modern MMORPG loving bloods into OSRS so the objective of the very, very small group of new skill mode players of making money is destined to fail, regardless how many more months they keep waiting and hoping.

First and foremost it's worth pointing out that like any major change, all new skill proposals will be polled and consultation done on every phase as it already has started.

It's perfectly reasonable to be against any new proposal, especially something as large an update as a new skill.

I'd recommend the OP in case they haven't done so already, to continue giving their feedback as much as they can and hopefully you made a submission in the skill survey and presented your interest in joining the Jagex led new skill discord focus group.

Jagex is very interested in the views of those who voted 'no' as well so definitely keep giving your feedback as to why you feel the way you feel + what you believe a better alternative looks like as well as what that's trying to achieve. :)

The biggest thing that already ruined the new skill (let's not talk about OSRS as a whole now) before it started is the fake OSRS democracy. Note that they polled the new skill but what new skills and what content to be polled are out of the reach of the general public. The very, very small group of OSRS Jmod handpicked bourgeois is going to dictate everything by pulling strings behind the puppet OSRS team.

Perhaps the better question is why are that very, very small group of bourgeois the OSRS team is trying hard to make money for them, not picked by all the OSRS players?

Rs never became a "better wow" because we were never wow. Rs existed years before Wow and was for a long time a lot better game for those that loved it for the skilling. Unfortunately, the jmods forgot this is not wow and have been trying to turn it into a clone of wow for the last few years.

In fact, you could easily point out that the game began to die when the jmods decided it had to be a clone of wow, back in 2011.
