Cool. Were those numbers collected manually or in some automated way?
I was thinking it would be a cool little project to try to create a tool that will flag forums with new posts since a last visit. By extension it would also be possible to regularly scrape post counts with such a tool.
I just discovered yesterday that off topic is only viewable when logged in. I don't remember it being like that before. I thought that it was only the rants forum that was like that.
I see, I was surprised to see discussions of religion and politics in OT. That must be one of the changes that came with relaxing the rules, but I can see why they might not want that sort of content to be found on their website if not logged in, particularly by search engine web crawlers.
How many forumers are there? Qfc 14-15-251-66023718 by CuddleBucket 03-Jul-2018 15:43:43
Mod Cam said: Hey - maybe I can help with this.
For the month of June we had: 6,267 threads, 153,967 posts (38,901 of those are bumps). Clans are roughly 40% of all content.
4,511 unique members and a maximum of 216 simultaneous users.

RED FLAGS
Numbers
4,511
Mod Balance did mention when I asked him about analytical reporting that he did have access to analytical reporting software so whatever brand they are using is where that number came from in case anyone was wondering how that number was obtained. That would be where the 4,511 number would have come from.
The type of software that is used for the forum would not be able to provide any type of analytical reporting. The forum is ran on software that is as old as my 286 computer.
I am also not sure if Mod Cam is implying that the 4,511 unique members number is a weekly number or a monthly number either. Let's say it is a weekly number. 4,511 is quite a dip from the reported 6,000 unique visitor PER WEEK number Mod Balance reported 7 months ago. Tbh, it amazes me that the person who is doing the analytical reporting hadn't raised a huge red flag months ago. After all this is Jagexs official website.
6,267 threads, 153,967 posts
Thread & post count would have to be done via a spreadsheet because of the forum softwares limitations. Without seeing the spreadsheet on thread & post count that was used & not knowing if that number was representing all forum subsections it is a bit hard to say one way or another. It would be a fair assumption that his spreadsheet would encompass all forum subsections though.

However, in comparison to the spreadsheets that I have done on thread & post count that only contained the forum subsections that you don't have to log into, the numbers recently provided appear to be low. This would be based on the spreadsheet numbers that can be found within this thread.
Thread Index
NUMBERS - Forum Activity: Post 21.7-10
8,578 Threads were created in the generalized forums in December 2016.
204,432 Posts were made in the generalized forums in December 2016.
NUMBERS - Forum Activity January 2017: Post 33.6
9,290 Threads were created in the generalized forums in January 2017 [1]
182,827 Posts were made in the generalized forums in January 2017 [1]
[1] The January totals do not include any posts made in January to the seasonal forum Sliske's Christmas Adventure.
NUMBERS - Forum Activity February 2017: Post 36.2
10,582 Threads were created in the generalized forums in February 2017
179,441 Posts were made in the generalized forums in February 2017
NUMBERS - Forum Activity March 2017: Post 40.8
March 2017 Totals:
9,328 Threads were created in the generalized forums in March 2017
169,886 Posts were made in the generalized forums in March 2017
NUMBERS - Fourm Activity APRIL 2017: Post 47.7
April 2017 Totals:
9,942 Threads were created in the generalized forums in April 2017
167,464 Posts were made in the generalized forums in April 2017
As you can note the thread & post count within the generalized forums for these months did show some fluctuation. The numbers however remained consistent & well within range of one another.
With the numbers that were recently provided (6,267 threads, 153,967 posts) in comparison to the above numbers that only encompassed the forum subsections that you don't have to log into showcase a massive decline especially if the numbers that were provided include all forum subsections.
