Constructive Criticism

Good gravy, after all the $$ spent on promoting Elite Dungeons I guess it was too much to ask for the information to be glued to the top of the RGU forum on the official website. The thread Elite Dungeons! Qfc 15-16-459-66021701 has been bouncing around page 1 & 2 of the RGU forum since its release because it wasn't glued. Geeze, it is not like someone didn't return to the forum 'later' on release day to update the thread, just saying. To not have noticed that it was missing the glue speaks volumes. Come on now guys you can do much better than this.

Day Two...still bouncing around...

Now some might say, Windofnight, that is such a small thing to point out but it is indicative of a much larger problem that has plagued RSOF for years now. RSOF is not being given its due diligence by CM. The RSOF & the RSOF community are much more deserving than the 'drive by community engagement' style that reeks of 'meh' that we are currently being subject to.

Where is the thread in the Events & Competitions forum announcing the Elite Dungeons Screenshot Competition? Aren't competitions like this one normally posted on the official website in that forum subsection? Or is that competition only open to twitter users or something since Jagex is using a hashtag as one of their submission platforms?

What's up with CM tweeting out Reddit links to find out about updates to the game update rather than the link to that information that is posted on RSOF? Why is CM out there promoting Reddit, that is according to Jagex, just a fansite? Why are Jagex customers being directed to reddit? Inquiring minds what to know. Is there some financial incentive to Jagex or it's employees to direct Jagex customers to one of its 'fansites'?

For goodness sake, all anyone has to do is see that Jagex isn't tweeting the link to the information on reddit but rather are tweeting the link to their website. This supports the notion that a company utilizes social media to direct traffic to its website not to direct traffic away from it. Confirming support to this is that the RS & the foreign language twitter accounts also direct the customer to this website too.

Even though it is great that the current information on this update got posted to RSOF this time I have to ask what's up with the lack of community engagement with the RSOF community on those updates? Community engagement appears to be especially lacking & that is very noticeable during recent game updates. Contrary to popular belief there is a viable RSOF community here to engage with too.

It also appears that work hour community engagement time is still being spent on social media actively engaging with both the twitter & reddit communities. What about the RSOF community though? You know, the folks that are using Jagexs official website. Doesn't the RSOF community rate high enough on the community engagement scale for even a minimal amount of that community engagement time?

I understand that CM is kinda leaderless atm, so to speak, but come on now guys you can do better than this. Does someone really need to be standing over your shoulder telling you to use some of that work hour community engagement time posting on the official website too?

Viable Solution:

This may help in developing positive community engagement skills while (re) learning the 'art of foruming'.

1. Take a yellow sticky note & with pen in hand write 'I will actively engage with the community on RSOF today'.

2. Put that yellow sticky note right in the middle of your computer monitor where you can see it at all times. Or if you like you could tape that yellow sticky note on your forehead or pin it to your shirt, whatever works best for you. You can even take a selfie with your yellow sticky note if you want & tweet it to yourself as a reminder if that helps too.

3. Read what you wrote & put that plan in action!

4. Log in to the website, after all you are at work, & engage away with the RSOF community.

Helpful Hint:

1. If you tie a string on your finger at the moment that you write 'I will actively engage with the community on RSOF today' on the yellow sticky it may help you to remember that you wrote a yellow sticky note reminding you to engage with RSOF community too.

2. You can even take a selfie with your yellow sticky note with the string proudly wrapped on your finger if you want & tweet it to yourself as a reminder if that helps too.

It would be nice to see the CEO address MTX and related subjects like how it was done in the good ol' days. Radio silence from the top tends to exacerbate the issue as it makes it appear that customer feedback on MTX is not reaching the highest levels of the company.

Why the increase in membership fees plus the push to incorporate more MTX within the game? How does that tie into the future plans for Jagex that were outlined in the last batch of published interviews that were recently given?

As someone who plays the game (and a shareholder), like my fellow RS gamers, I think it would be nice to hear from the CEO on this topic. This is not an unreasonable expectation since there is a precedent for it.

Right now it kinda looks like what a farmer told me once, "If you have only one cow that gives milk you will milk it until it runs dry". I am sure that isn't the impression you want your customers to have is it?

Constructive Criticism

"It’s more that, as lead designer, I shouldn’t be hiding when the tough issues come up. I can’t only appear when things are good." - Mod Osborne 03 Jul 2018

I agree with Mod Osborne that he, or any other JMod shouldn't be hiding when it comes to addressing concerns or communicating with Jagex customers especially when an additional layer of MTX is being introduced. Jagex customers are what keeps Jagex in business. We are the folks that provide the revenue so that they all have a job.

Have any customer concerns been addressed on the official website since the release of Runepass by any Jmod? It is a shame that it appears that the Jmods are still hiding from the customer base that utilizes Jagexs own website.

Jmods hiding from the customers on RSOF appears to have become the norm rather than the exception for our Jmods when it comes to communicating on RSOF. Nothing here to see folks, yep, you got that right, even though most of us, even those folks who use reddit & twitter come to this website first to find out information related to game updates.

Even though it has been claimed that Runepass isn't a recent update, there the information on Runepass sits in the Recent Game Update forum subsection. Runepass was released as a recent update. Why wasn't that information placed in the TH forum subsection if it wasn't a recent update? Wasn't it because that Runepass is not TH exactly but rather an additional layer of MTX that is being introduced?

It is worthwhile to mention how bad the optics are when it comes to the lack of communication from Jagexs own employees on the companies own website. This tends to give the impression that Jagex does not care about its customers.

It is also worthwhile to note how horrible the optics are for Jagex not to have formulated a concrete MTX progression policy in writing & posted it here on the official website. By not doing this tends to give the impression that there is something underhanded or shady going on within the company not to mention the optics of a lack of professionalism. This rings especially true when customers can't find answers on the companies own website & are being directed off site to either 'watch' a stream or have to visit Reddit, an off site fansite. After all that is what Jagex has told us Reddit is.

Why should the customer have to go to a fansite to try & piece together what Jagexs MTX progression policy is? Is there some financial incentive to Jagex or individual Jagex employees for directing Jagex customers off site to Reddit to try & piece together what Jagexs MTX progression policy is?

Why should customers have to piece that policy together themselves? Is there a reason why Jagex isn't putting a MTX progression policy in writing on its own website like they have done in the past?

It is not like Jagex hasn't been here before when it comes to introducing MTX. Good gravy, post 59.7 & 59.8 outline Jagexs MTX progression policy & related information posted by a Jagex CEO during the different phases of MTX introduction & release years ago. That should have been your model on how to communicate with your customer. Heck you could of just updated what he wrote then & posted it 'again' to the official website.

The lack of a concrete MTX progression policy in writing & posted to the official website coupled with radio silence on MTX questions asked on the official website speaks volumes.
