Tren hid it due to discussing another users account details no mention of naming and shaming.
I think they should have taken the fact it was being discussed by a jmod as indication it is allowable on this occasion but meh.

Good luck on getting further clarification Winds. Don't be surprised if you get an inbox message telling you to stop posting about it or we'll mute your account though.

@Windsofnight, it would be easier when encountering a similar situation (as for what your post was actioned) to refrain from posting such
JMOD TIDBITS
in the future, unless you’re certain that both sides involved have reached a mutual understanding (reached a consensus in the ongoing situation) where all uncertainties are answered and its case have finally been closed before it reaches Public Channels such as The RSOF ‘and’ Social Media.
If none of the criteria are fully met than don’t participate as that leaves you without any problems on The RSOF.
I don’t see any reason as to why someone should be stopped / muted for posting messages that already have been going Officially Public. The mistake isn’t yours.
As long as this thread for many participants deems valuable there’s no reason to apply a lock.

Although I am sure you are already aware, here is a list of the censorship parameters that I already adhere to for Jmod Tidbits.

1. I already edit out curse words that appear in opening posts & comments from a reddit threads.
2. I already edit out the author name of a reddit thread.
3. I already edit out the commenters name of a reddit thread.

Here is a list of what I DO NOT EDIT:

1. I DO NOT EDIT a Jmods reply.
2. I DO NOT EDIT a Jmods opening post or a title of their thread that they have created.

Additional censorship parameters?

1. Do not post a personal opinion on topic to the Jmod Tidbit to a Jmod Tidbit?
2. First find out what the rule breaking content in the moderated Jmod Tidbit is in order to edit out similar such content on future Jmod Tidbits?

As previously mentioned I have no problem working within additional censorship parameters, however, I do need to know what those additional censorship parameters are in order to do so.

Thank you.

The only thing I would want to make sure is edited is if the JMod has mentioned the player that would otherwise have been removed. If you'd edit the name of a commenter/author then I'd suggest you'd want to do the same from a JMod post.

A common sense approach would be fine!

REDDIT

Menaphos Concept Art

Reddit contributor TheOmikron did an awesome job of pulling these concept art stills from the A Tome of Memaphos video which he shared on Reddit within his opening post on 21 May 2017.

Winds - I guess I do like the idea of this thread (the more recent way of it being used). However, I decided to have a quick skim over the opening post again. I still feel that the openening post is disjointed from how the thread is currently being used.

I don't really see why the opening post of a thread that is being used to collate and showcase RuneScape and Jagex-related information to forum users should be about something different to that (i.e. more about criticising another community platform).

Everyone's entitled to their opinion I guess. However, I still feel that the thread's disjointed and I don't really feel that criticising communities on the RSOF is the right thing for this platform. Like I said before, yes, Reddit has done similar if not worse on their platform towards RSOF. However, you guys liked RSOF and it's rules. I don't really see how you can complain about how other communities operate when you are in a community of your own in which you are happy with the way it operates.

Criticise Jagex? Fine I guess - constructively then in W&F. Non-constructively and/or "more anger-filled" then it goes in Rants. That would be classed as feedback on the way the company works or the way that the game is being updated etc. But criticising other players or negatively targeting other players or groups has never been allowed. I don't see why Reddit should be the exception on RSOF if you are supportive of RSOF's rules. I can understand why some people wouldn't like it, but hey, the forums work how the forums work...

Overall, I'm basically saying that I believe that given the way that this thread is currently operating, I believe that a new opening post should be provided to reflect that this is the new intended course of the thread (i.e. via a new thread). At the moment, it almost seems like two very different types of topic rolled into one thread.

RE: 44.10

My guess is that the problem was not so much with your post but rather that it just brought attention to a demod, which, while not necessarily "shameful", is probably not a matter that the person that was demodded would want attention drawn to them for.

I think that was most likely Tren's thinking as well as Mod Matthe's, though I don't want to speak on their behalves.

With that said though, I agree with your decision to seek further clarification. And of course, thank you for maintaining this thread. You are doing a great service to those of us that only use the forums as a means of news/information.

@Hyles, Hi, thank you for the kind words. I am glad you are enjoying the thread. The primary purpose of my first two visits to the MRT were to present a plea for the unhiding of the JMOD TIDBIT, that btw, was successful. As noted I did try to seek further clarification on the 'naming & shaming' bit on my third visit, however, it appears that my attempt in that regard was futile.

Tbh, idk what the issue was but I think we can probably rule out the notion that the 'person' that was demodded may not have wanted attention drawn to them since it appears from what I have read both here on RSOF & on social media platforms that the 'person' has been very forthright regarding what had happened.

@Wilf, Hi, thank you for the wishes of good luck. Normally the saying 'the third time's the charm' holds true but in this instance it did not... #sadface

anyhoo, let's see, maybe I should do a quest to find the answer...

RE: 45.2

@2_Tron, Hi, fair enough, I respect your opinion, however, as previously mentioned I have been posting JMOD TIDBITS to RSOF for almost 10 years. One thing that is certain is that I do use good judgement & common sense when selecting material to post to RSOF as a JMOD TIDBIT.

Believe you me there has been plenty of material that has been posted over the years to various social media platforms on topics that one could deem offensive that were replied to that have never found their way to RSOF as a JMOD TIDBIT. My good judgement & common sense is not really the issue here.

Perhaps you may have not have noticed but the post the contained the JMOD TIDBIT that was hidden was the ending post for the WEEKLY PENGUIN D&D THREADS TARGETED FOR CHANGE - PART 2 (41.7,8,9,10) feature. The WEEKLY PENGUIN D&D THREADS TARGETED FOR CHANGE - PART 1 was posted on 41.5,6. To randomly select one post for moderation from an ongoing feature was a bit bizarre IMO to say in the least.

WEEKLY PENGUIN D&D THREADS TARGETED FOR CHANGE - PART 3 has not been posted yet as I am in the process of catching up on a few of the other features that I had started at the same time since I had also paused the continuation of those features too.

All of those features include information from both RSOF & social media platforms. The pausing of these features was done for the simple reason that I did utilize the MRT so that I could get a better understanding of the issue concerning the moderation of the JMOD TIDBIT, which is btw, for the most part, is what a Jmod has communicated on a social media platform (and is used within the ongoing features).
