The RuneScape Community couldn’t stand a chance and never knew what had happened which things would cause a huge segregation in Worlds’ Communities.
Anyway, it has nothing to do with statistics nor any analyses, The RuneScape Community hadn’t any chance whatsoever to recover, as always The RuneScape Community did wish to move ahead and so they did.
Luckily the ‘Old’ RuneScape Community whom support Jagex always could rely on largely stayed alive and kicking on The RSOF and managed, with a whole lot of bumps & accidents, to keep these Forums alive and running. Not that it looks that amazing but looked at the circumstances they did have done a tremendous job in keeping it steady, again moving up the next hill.
Since the last JMod lost his ‘direct’ influence in The Office, to help us with The RSOF, we basically are walking on eggs, but we will manage.
At the moment, what would be best to happen, I frankly don’t know, what I do know is is that The RuneScape Community wishes to stay connected with Jagex & JMods and are still willing to use The RSOF. The RuneScape Community wishes to exchange thoughts with Jagex / JMods and are hoping to see them back, back as being live with us on The RSOF and not just on Social Media.
I must thank the last standing ‘Old’ JMod with what he has done for The RuneScape Website & The RSOF in terms of improvements as there has been achieved a whole lot of work, just look at the many channels The RuneScape Community got for managing to solve issues they encounter among any RuneScape Products.

RE: 1.6 - Soooo....what do you want done then?

--

@Amdusias, Hi, as I mentioned something is not right here & I don't think it has anything to do 'with the state of the forums'. It shouldn't be too hard to connect the dots.

I have made a few proposals within the content of the opening posts, one that surely you would find no fault with & enjoy seeing implemented...

-----

RE: 1.7 - P.S. I think the tweet you posted there was showing the amount of posts created by the CM team on both platforms, I'm not sure what it has to do with the active user count on the forums.

--

@3rjn, Hi, take a peek at the 2nd tweet. One of the gauges used as a determination of "community activity" is the RSOF active user counter.

The RSOF active user counter, which always shows low numbers, is without a doubt one of reasons cited that is used in talking points as to highlight why 'the forum is dead' & is often cited as the reason that is given in some talking points to 'just shut down the forum already'.

The active user counter plays a huge role in the perception that the 'forum is dead'. That is why I said in my commentary 'Something is not right here & I don't think it has anything to do 'with the state of the forums'.

RE: 1.8 - Also there's no way to see when J-Mods post, so the posts aren't as apparent as what you see on Reddit.

--

@ Simply Peter, Hi, I agree.

The little gold chat bubble at the end of the title that you see on Reddit that highlights that a Jmod has posted to the thread is something that has been added there recently, it didn't use to be that way though. It does make it easier to see which topics that a Jmod has posted to.

Before Reddit incorporated this, I used the Jmod Tracker to find the Jmod posts on that site. (I still prefer to use the Jmod Tracker since I can hone in to specific content without going through the Reddit feed).

Tbh, I don't think it would be out of the realm of possibilities that a little gold chat bubble at the end of the title could be incorporated right here on RSOF either. I am going through my JMOD TIBITS on RSOF Website Feedback to see if a Jmod has addressed that idea in the past.

-----

@Team Misha, Hi, the thread does tend to give the appearance of a knee-jerk reaction to angry whining little hit pieces posted on a 'fansite' rather than anything that has been posted here.

I almost included all of the JMOD TIDBITS on RSOF Website Feedback that I have on this thread too as a comparison to the suggestions that are currently posted on that thread.

The majority of those suggestions made on that current sticky thread have already been replied to by Jmods in the past, however, I didn't include them at this point because I wanted to see how that thread is going to play out first.

I see it going one of two ways:

1. Mod Kalaya says something like 'I will pass the suggestions on. Ta' & locks the thread.

or

2. W&F Team replies to suggestions & then the thread is locked with no option to ask for clarity on their answers.

The forums average ~35k-40k posts per week whereas /r/RuneScape averages ~15k posts per week.

Interesting. It doesn't surprise me that the forums are more active than Reddit. It just has the appearance of being slower because of the number of subsections and the ambiguous activity counter.

I am curious how you got these numbers though, and how many posts are made on the OSRS subreddit?

For the forums, the numbers come from comparing the IDs of posts made x time apart, something that YtHaar-Mej showed me (detailed here ).

For Reddit, I just counted them up and added them together for the most part. I posted about a week ago here too with a comparison that also includes the OSRS subreddit.

Okay then, since it has nothing to do with the "State of the forums", then why is this posted in a subforum specifically designated to discussing the "State of the forums"?

Sounds more like a -Rant- than anything, to be honest.

If you're not talking about the 'State of the Forums', then WHAT are you talking about exactly so I can have SOMETHING of an appropriate response?

I thought I'd look posts on the forums and took a screenshot of the list and have just compared how many posts.

So from Thursday 3rd 11pm to about 5mins ago there had been 20979 posts

10,101 of those in the clan recruitment sections both old school and RS3 (5314/4787 respectively)

Don't think I made any mistakes.

Sounds about right yeah, since if that's ~4 days, multiplying that 20,979 by 1.75 to get a 7-day estimate would put it at around the 36.7k mark.

@Wilf, Hi, I lol every time I see that 'Bit of a no-brainer' lead in line on the current Code of Conduct too... (my bad)

RE: 2.3 - *looks at images* Hey I see myself!

--

@Erehk, Hi, your're famous! That is why I used a tweet image with your name on it! :D

I am glad you asked that question of Mod Balance on twitter & got an answer. The gods of RuneScape know questions like that get asked on RSOF a lot, but since our posts don't show on a twitter feed, no one ever sees them...

I am in agreement that the user counters are very misleading & I feel that it is such a disservice to the community when our Jmods add fuel to that fire.

-----

RE: 2.4 - I have a theory about why the 'fansite' alluded to seems to be more attractive to JMods than does the RSOF and it has nothing to do with the population of players on each.

--

@FiFi La Frou, Hi, thank you so much for your kind words! I would love to read about your theory. Is there not a way that you could write it without having the fear that it would be hidden?

Tbh, I had to rewrite this thread a few times so it wouldn't come off sounding like one of those whining little hit pieces you read on a certain 'fansite'.

RE: 2.5 - If the intention behind this thread is for Jagex to start paying the RSOF more attention, I don't think it'll work.

No.
No matter how I'd dress it up, it's still a criticism of JMods, and they don't like that.
Additionally, it is just a theory. An opinion. If I could back it up with actual numbers and the like then I might go for it but, as with all opinions, this isn't possible.

I wouldn't care much if it was just the post that got hidden since that's hardly a catastrophe. However, my 'theory' is of such an entirely negative one as regards the prevailing (and recent past) ethos of CM that it may have further repercussions. Been there, done that, once before :)

It's not entirely flattering towards a category of Runescapers, either, and that is of course very much against specific Rules. Like most reformed trolls I try my best to remain within the Rules.
