OP: I'm aware some or perhaps most mac users using the nxt client tend to have a freezing issue, as I do.
I was just wondering if any other mac users are still having this problem or perhaps have found a way to avoid freezing problems? It may happen 2-3 times during the duration of game-play for me.

A: Mod Dolan: Hey, Sorry for the late reply. I haven't been as active on reddit today due to bonds... We are still investigating Mac problems. I know I have said this a lot, but we have actually fixed a few Mac crashed over the past few months. We're slowly whittling down the amount of Mac crashed in NXT but a few of you will have noticed, It's not quite perfect yet. The teams wants nothing more than for everyone to be able to play crash free. Once TheDream™ has been achieved we can focus heavily on new shiny features, optimisations and improvements.

I posted a thread a while back requesting for specifications and what activity the player was partaking in when the crash occurred. [1] I can tell you. The only correlation between them is that they're using a Mac. In the development world, this is the worst possible outcome.

At the moment, we are also working on Mac crash report improvements and I hope we will have this out the door at the beginning of next year.

I can assure you I'm doing everything in my control to have a crash free NXT.

Commentary

One of the purposes of the 24 Hour Posting Comparisons is to try & reconcile the numbers that have been provided in Mod Balances tweet of 18 Oct 2016. While those numbers are from July, those reported numbers could be viewed as an average +/- (over the long term), coupled with the statement that that time spent posting to each platform is 'fair'.

Is it?

Both of the random 24 Hour Posting Comparisons are beginning to show a pattern that lends support to the notion that far more time is spent posting to Reddit than is spent posting to RSOF though. The timing of the posts being made to Reddit tends to also dispel the notion that posting to Reddit is being done outside of typical office hours too.

Just in case you may be wondering why I choose to use only posts being made to the generalized forums as the bases for this comparison & somehow it might not be a fair comparison, those would be the posts being made to what would be considered a generalized public platform.

Reddit would also be considered a generalized public platform too, just like the generalized RSOF. Just like RSOF., it is also a platform that you don't need to log in to read what is going on either. On this bases, that they are both generalized public platforms that everyone can read about what is going on, the posting comparison becomes more of an apples to apples comparison, rather than an apples to oranges comparison, so to speak.

At this point because there is only data from two random 24 hour comparisons it is to early to make a conclusion, however, there does appear to be a few red flags waving in the breeze though.

I came across an interesting thread on ZYBEZ that was discussing if the RSOF have become irrelevant or not. It was refreshing to read since it wasn't the typical whining little hit piece that you find posted on Reddit regarding RSOF.

One part that caught my eye when I read the opening post, (found in the Spoiler), was this: " The people feel that they won't get out of the forums the effort they put into them. The people feel this way based on their experiences in these forums over the last 4 years. "

When I read that, it was like one of those 'preaching to the choir' moments since this is something that the forum community has been expressing here in W&F with little or no acknowledgment at all from the folks in the position to make positive RSOF community engagement changes.

We can only hope that those in the position to make positive community engagement changes will be able to take a short pause in their busy social media schedules & reflect for a few moments on those two sentences.

It should go without saying or even having to write it, that nobody likes to feel like they are spitting in the wind.

Kudos to the author of this ZYBEZ thread.
