It appears that the majority of the comments made to the reddit thread tended to indicate that the community is dismayed about this change for several reasons.

One reason being is that there didn't appear to be any clear communication from CM team as to the reason why this change was needed.

Another reason that stood out was that the community felt that there is a real disconnect between the CM team & the community. This is highlighted within the comments because the general consensus was that of all of the things that need to be done or changed on RSOF to improve the forums & community relations, the type of change the CM team utilized their time pondering & implementing was to require two Penguin hunting threads that have been around for eight plus years to change from a weekly format to a mega thread format.

The timing of the loss of a fmodship for one of hosts of these long running time tested community supported threads was suspect as well & garnered a number of comments as well.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

In Part 1, background information on the two threads is provided to give those readers who may not be familiar a bit of information on each of the two penguin hunting communities that were impacted by this change. As noted both communities hunt penguins & post current locations.

INGAME INTERVIEW

I did try to reach out to both hosts ingame as I had one question I wanted to ask each of them for Part 2 of this blog. I thought that an ingame interview with each one of them & their answer to the question would be a nice ending to this commentary.

I was unable to make contact with one host. The host that I was able to make contact with ingame when I said I wanted to ask a question about this controversy informed me that sorry, they were unable to comment.

So dear readers, that idea for a ending to this commentary was a big fail...



I will end this commentary by saying to all of the RSOF community, you are truly the tried and true unsung heroes of RuneScape.

Commentary

If I Were In Her Shoes

It appears by Mod Balances statement in context to the discussion 'that he would have no problem explaining exactly why this decision is correct' in relationship to the demodding. Perhaps all Canada Grrl has to do is to give him permission to publicly clarify why she was demodded if that is the route she would like to take.

As an impartial bystander in this matter who has tried hard to present information on this controversy in a format that allows the reader to draw their own conclusions it is incumbent on me to say that if I were in her shoes I would give Mod Balance permission to clarify in light of the number of failed strawman attempts to discredit via innuendo both on RSOF & on social media platforms.

This request to provide clarity on this to the community would not be based on the overwhelming community support or because they wanted to know but rather on what I have 'read' that she has written on this topic & the official posts on the topic thus far.

Usually the dots connect. Unless Canada Grrl Ko'ed a penguin in rl & blamed Jagex for it & that was plastered all over the internet & somehow I missed that, the dots are just not connecting this time.

To end this commentary I will wish Good Luck to Mod Balance on this PR Nightmare & Good Luck to Canada Grrl on whatever she decides to do with this semi-offer that appears to have been left on the table on reddit.
