@Mexk, as a 'RuneScape Player' I do have the ability to contact 'Jagex / The RuneScape Community' on The RSOF easily the way I described in my earlier post. As a player, you always search for the easiest and most protected way for your contacts, provided this way by Jagex.

On the other hand, Jagex is allowed to protect themselves against malicious attacks by making it for attackers harder to be successful in their attacks.

So, players, have their save ways while other people who only decide to 'browse' The RSOF have to have to take some extra steps to get access the way they wanna seek access to The RSOF.

reCAPTCHA has been installed to lessen malicious attacks and it is possible that Jagex will have better / other ways in the future once they are able to layout their newest software and tackle this problem all at once.
For now, it is the cheapest and best way to accomplish this extra safeguard.

I... what?

You are fundamentally misunderstanding both me and the problem at hand. There are heaps of ways through which Jagex can protect themselves against malicious attacks (though I hope you realise reCAPTCHA does nothing in regards to, say, DDoS or phishing). reCAPTCHA is an insanely privacy-invasive and thoroughly abhorrent, but ultimately easy, solution. It is neither the cheapest nor necessarily the best technique. If you had taken a minute to read about hCaptcha, for instance, you would have realised that.

Again, the argument that people should just login to the game and then click a newspost to circumvent the reCAPTCHA is a nice but ultimately a preposterous argument which falls short the second anyone adopts even the weakest form of a proper cookie policy. I need to accentuate how there are two issues at hand, namely (a) the frustrating browsing experience; and (b) the stripped sense of privacy. That you evidently do not care about either is an opinion you are entitled to, but both issues remain valid.

Then I ask you, why did you ever become a player in the first place?

For some reason I haven't had many Captchas for the past few months. As far as I'm aware I haven't changed any settings on my computer.

Do you have any cookie policies in place, though? In fact, even if you do not but just happen to use Firefox or Safari, chances are you will get the prompt as well. I reckon it is important to accentuate that this occurs even when you permit RuneScape issued cookies (e.g. remembering the specific browser for your Authenticator). Why are we even prompted with reCAPTCHA in the first place when accessing from a browser already holding a valid, authenticated cookie?

The "soul-purpose" of The RSOF has always been to get into contact with its creators and exchange ones experience with these creators.
All links in the Lobby or in RuneScape's Chat System are directly heading us into The RSOF as Jagex already had a check on us players verifying our Authenticity when logging-in in RuneScape.
Even if you come back after a long period of absence Jagex makes sure you will be directly logged-in into The RSOF to inform you about progression.

You are prompted with reCAPTCHA in the first place if you ignore RuneScape and you randomly wanna check-in into The RSOF for no other reason not playing RuneScape.
If you do play RuneScape than using in-game connections is the most obvious choice of procedure.

Oh sweet summer child... since you keep poking.

Once again, you are misunderstanding the concerns I have raised, and you are wittingly misinterpreting others. So just to be absolutely clear: I cannot access the forums without allowing three connections to Google, a ping to Facebook, and a minimum of two CAPTCHA rounds even when going through an in-game link from the lobby. This applies to anyone who has done just the bare minimum to ensure a proper cookie policy. And it especially applies to those who do not use Google Chrome per Google's notorious favoritism.

None of this should be needed.

Also, please note that this so-called solution of yours does not even accommodate OSRS players, nor those going through mobile. Of course, this frustrating reCAPTCHA process is the same if I attempt to access the forums without going through the game---something which you should be under no obligation to do given the forums and game are two distinct services. My comment in the quoted post simply questions the necessity for a CAPTCHA in the first place given an existing, pre-approved cookie.

In addition to all the above, you have Google's reprehensible privacy policies.

Hence hCaptcha.

I use Vivaldi in my Linux computers and Firefox in my Android phone.

I don't like being tracked, hence I prohibit 3rd party cookies and runs under browser incognito/private mode all the time.

This pesky CAPTCHA ruins my login experience, and for sure many of RSOF regular forumers as well. What the OP states is a suggestion for Jagex to switch CAPTCHA-provider, as the Google's offering really sucks.

If only there was no alternative, then we have no choice but to accept our fate -- but as Mexk mentioned a better competitor to Google emerged with better image captcha presentation.

I strongly support the suggestion that Mexk has raised, it makes a lot of sense. RSOF forumers are not masochists, we need a more convenient solution - and that solution is available in the market.
